I want to see the red or the orange, but not both together. But as I said on Rae's thread yesterday, I only like one color at a time surrounded by neutrals in most outfits. so it is quite possibly just me and in that case, pay no mind!

I love red and brown. I do it myself. I think it was just adding the orange that puts it over the top (for me). I'll bet a color enthusiast would love it! Better ask MaryK - she is so much more the color mixing expert than I!

I really like how vibrant the orange is against the brown -- perfectly acceptable! I probably would have gone with a brown or burgundy shoe -- the black seems severe. Either way all that flailing about paid off. Good job

Thanks, Shannon - these trousers seemed slouchy when I got them, now I'm not sure if they are just a bit loose. But for work they are not too OTT!

Rae, I noticed your recent use of color... more so with your awesome ombre bag!

DV, good suggestion - am waiting for brown boots to arrive in the mail! These have a brown wood heel but I agree they might be harsh with these colors.

Now someone please explain to me how such a short jacket works so well with pants, with no longer layer to intervene... Is it just Una being Awesome or is there a Rule of Flattery I'm missing here?

I love the menswear vibe. I think they still count as slouchy. The crotch point looks a bit dropped despite the higher waist, or at least there is looseness there. They fit similarly to my new black ones except mine sit assuredly on the hip, no higher (and not really lower, either...)

I think these colours work. I'd wear it.

Manidipa, although I question it myself, I think it's because these are slouchy trousers. Longer jackets with slouchy trousers seem more challenging to me as they hide the whole point of the slouchiness... but I am NO expert on jacket length!

I like it - the red and orange are harmonizing warm tones. It's brighter than your norm possibly and that is why it seems "out there"? I think we all should wear crazy brights every so often to push our eye forward.
Brown is hard to match - especially if the plaid has red then I would want to go that direction.

I really like the colour combination with the brown Una and think the black boots work here essentially because of your glossy black mane. The trousers have a great menswear vibe whatever the definition

The only element which is giving me slight pause is the white of the cuffs, can the sleeves be scrunched so the lining is not revealed.

First, you def. do not look insane. The shoes could be a different color I think. The jacket and red top look good with the pants -esp. with the hint of red in the pants. And you look great in these bright colors!

I think the hard thing with brown is that it can skew either warm OR cool (I had the hardest time with some grays that do this until recently)...anyway, I think once that's sorted, it makes finding a color to work with it much easier. And I love orange plus red (or pink, etc). And I love the menswear vibe of the slouchy pant. So much to love.

No insanity on my screen either. I really like this colour combo on you. The orange and red are a little unexpected and add a slightly softer touch to the menswear vibe of the outfit, a juxtaposition that I love.
Like Jules, I would like to see how the jacket looks without the white of the cuffs showing, and am curious to see the trousers with your new brown boots.

With brown trousers I also like these colours for tops/jackets:
- anything in the burgundy/eggplant family
- navy and ink blue
- all sorts of greens (moss green, hunter's green, teal)
- bright yellow might also be fab.
- If I had these trousers I'd love to try a pattern mix with my cream and navy striped crewneck jumper or dark navy and poppy striped turtleneck jumper.

I like the colors together! I may just be used to seeing them that way though. My sister, who sends me an outfit photo everyday (and me to her), likes to mix and match "fall colors" so I see a lot of these sorts of pairings from her. I'm jealous of your slouchy trousers.

Hmm, that's a thought, Ceit! My real struggle is not with the jacket but with what to wear underneath as a tank or blouse... this is actually ALWAYS my biggest struggle, which is why for the longest time I just had one stretchy black t-shirt that I wore under everything.

I think that would work under almost any color jacket.

And call me boring, but I think the pants would look great with black.
Maybe your oversized black sweater- is it VInce? Or a black or white tee and a black jacket and black booties.

Parsley, I have nothing in cream, white, ivory or anything in that range. I look horrible in those colors! Black does work - I paired these with black the first time I wore them. Need to pick up my Theory blazer from the dry cleaner!

Just a question - is it possible that cream or off white as a layer piece wouldn't look so horrible with all the more complimentary colors surrounding it? I'll admit cream was my first thought but I know you don't wear it.
