On my way out the door on Monday morning, my partner reminded me that I had fancy evening plans: the chancellor hosted a welcome dinner for all new faculty. I hadn’t thought at all about what to wear. The time pressure (5 minutes to choose an outfit!) let me commit to a bold choice without time to overthink it or wimp out. Cut the tags on a new shirt that just arrived and I was good to go.
I ended up wearing this new leopard silk shirt, my crossover jeans, and my new snakeskin print boots. The leopard + snake combo is pretty edgy for me. I even brought backup shoes, plain black flats, in case I couldn’t make myself wear the bolder outfit - but by the time I got to work, I was in love with the combination.
Shirt is Banana Republic’s washable silk, notably thick and high quality silk. Shoes are Sam Edelman - I posted a different pair a few weeks ago but these fit better and I like the bolder print compared to the others. Hair was up in the morning because it was dripping wet, down later in the day. I didn’t have a chance to get a full length photo.
The dinner was wonderful and I hit the right note of dressy casual. And I love this shirt!
