Chak de...! Not dated, just a lot more sedately classic than you are used to except the loosey-goosey fit and decidedly urban colour already modernizes it a good bit.
Ramya's right that the current looks are typically more fit and flare. But that said a classic cut is, well, classic. And as with what we call 'westernwear' here (hint: not involving blue jeans, gallon hats or spurs...necessarily), these days anything goes as long as you hv some sort of of-the-moment reference---like Sona's suggestion of cobalt leggings.
I actually wouldn't tailor it for a neater waist because that is more classic, really. And you need room to kick ass...or board a moving bus! What I would do is emphasise the modern palette of colours and fabrics---so if not cobalt, neon or acid green or leather or silver. And drape the dupatta front to back or doubled up into a more scarf-like look or if length permits, wear on one shoulder only to, um, flow like Trinity. Or heck even knot to a side at the waist in 'active' mode... You could even play with other colours again...that grey is SO GREAT for going with almost anything.
Meanwhile, you're a sedate princess taking the urban grit mixed in the mehendi in her stride...
Did you add jewellery for later? If not, wouldn't that draw comments along with the grey-black palette? (Just curious because of course there would be no end to it here)
I love seeing you in desi warrior mode, though. Wish it made sense (or weather!) to wear it more often on an average working day!
