You naughty girl you, I need to spank you bottom! Another skirt!!!!
Well, actually I can understand the draw because with quilting it looks uqite modern...I even can forgive you is you promise me this skirt will not become an orphan!
I especially like the rendition with the booties, scarf and cardigan - looking good! And this modern classic waving to you from afar!
I think I am running colder than you: it is 22C here today and I am wearing nude hose and booties with my dress...but again I have AC at work

Sharon, I adore skirts and wear them gladly all summer long. It's just in fall/ winter/ early spring that I find myself not wearing them, and it's a big problem. It's because of the warmth/ tights issues. To get the warmth I need, I have to wear opaque hose, and that means "dark" and I get so depressed by all the dark. Plus, my kitty gets his claws into my hose. So it's a constant dance.

Oh I love this skirt! I was so tempted to try it, but didn't because of the final sale - boo hoo, I think I should have taken the gamble. And I'm a skirt girl, too - I wear them year round.

You look fantastic in both versions, with the booties outfit being my favorite. But isn't it nice to still be able to wear sandals this time of year?

I'm still laughing over Viva's "poptart" comment. Oiy, sometimes I'm about as mature as my grade school students...and what's with you and Sveta spanking each other's bottoms I seem to remember another post where you were going to spank her bottom, or she was spanking yours, I don't remember. So what really happened in that hotel room in Boston, anyway, he, he, he

That's such a great skirt on you Suz! At least we're having a warm fall, so you'll get to wear it more. Have you tried finding opaque tights in lighter colours? Or layering your lighter tights over silk long johns? I don't know if either of those are good solutions though.

Yay to your daughter! And I love this skirt - it's not just ANY denim skirt and suits you to a T.

There is no shame in modern classic! It's the perfect style when you want to push a little in any direction, but not all the way. Like risotto, you can add anything to it and change it up. Yes, I need lunch.

Oh this is just beautiful on you! You are giving me inspiration to wear my quilted denim skirt, maybe tomorrow in fact! I think we will have at least one more warm day before the air turns seasonably cold again. When it gets real cold I layer two pairs of opaque tights under my skirts. It's not cat proof, but they are warm. I try to find the least expensive wool tights possible. That helps.

Congratulations to your DD!

Well! That skirt is divine on you, so I'm glad it's made a home in your closet. Totally adore the layered up version, and plan to copy within the week Is that an infinity scarf? If not, how do you have it tied? It looks pretty perfect.

The classic girl in me is swooning at your ensemble! I love the scarf and long cardigan...I love to pair those with destroyed denim and booties, which are fabulous btw!

Thank you, all, and Sveta, I solemnly vow I will not orphan this baby. On Team Wear and wore it the first day I had it, so that is a good sign.

And yes...no air conditioning means no need for hose. It was warm in our house today and even warmer at the awards ceremony.

Aida, I'm chuckling because I didn't even tie the scarf. It's one of those long but rather wide oblongs. Instead of leaving it long ways, I folded it up into a wide rectangle and then a triangle and then just threw is on like a bib. And because of the fabric it doesn't even need to be tied. It just kind of clings to itself and hangs there. I guess it might come off in a really strong wind, but we didn't have that problem today.

Una, I hope you got a good meal into you!

E, I never seem to find lighter tights in good colours, or they don't work with my booties, or SOMETHING. I think I need to make a more concerted effort. The brick and mortar options here are not great for tights. The choices are pretty much black, black, and maybe navy.

Karie, I am laughing too. And this skirt would be super on you!

Oh that's fun, thanks for the explanation! The scarf I was planning to wear for my copycat should work with this "tie" method, can't wait to try it ^^

I liked it when I saw the first picture, but when I saw your evening look I said whoa ("literally" - in keeping with the theme of teens)! Gorgeous! Must copy with non-denim skirt somehow! And congratulations to DD and her proud parents!

The skirt is great, Suz. It looks so good on you with that shell and then layered with the sweater & scarf. Sandals or booties both work so well. So even if you just wear it in warmer weather, it's worthwhile. It's a great shorts alternative in the summer, right? And maybe it will be a good fall piece, too--though kitty claws sound definitively bad for tights.

Well, you know how I feel about the Modern Classics:-) I think you have got yourself a winner here, Suz:-) I adore both outfits, and this skirt (the quilting is so fun) will play so well with many other pieces in your closet too. So we'll just overlook the fact that you weren't "supposed" to buy any more skirts;-)

Congrats to DD!

I like the self-pattern on your skirt Suz

DD it's such geml! She did the honours last year, too-if I remember well?:-) Love the both versions. Chic and wearable! Love the long cardi, and scarf, and love the drape on the sides of the front tuck of that white top. prefect!!

Suz, I love this outfit and think I will copy it. It was with your help that I concluded that I too am a modern classic and now that I have accepted it, I am enjoying it.

That skirt looks gorgeous on you. To me it looks a touch bombshell but the rest of the outfit offsets it very well for a balance look.

Is this an outfit you could wear with tights and boots in the colder weather? I was looking at the uniqlo site and they have a very lightweight thin tight that is in a special fabric that retains heat for cold weather. I am thinking I might try it out and wear them under pants and tights in the really cold weather to give me more freedom to wear things I like that otherwise would result in frostbite.

Amazing outfits on you Suz, both versions! That is one cool skirt.
So interesting that you seem to be getting into cardigans again, as I am also thinking about adding a couple after quite a few years of no interest in them.

Sensational Suz strikes again. Love the skirt on you - it was meant to be yours. The cardi is a no brainier too. Rock on. xo

I love a good denim skirt! I'm always on the hunt for one, but my standards are high, particular since I actually would actually be that "home school mom in the denim skirt." I'm sorely tempted to shimmy into the science fair with a super tight denim pencil, heels, and an angora sweater. You know: defy expectations, work the room. Hee.

You look terrific in this -- I like the balance of the tailored skirt with the fluid top.
The quilting takes is a fun touch.

Congrats to your DD!

Stop saying "modern classic" like it's a dirty word Suz - it's a style that look fabulous on you!

LOVE the skirt! I like each way you're wearing it here and I can picture it in colder weather with tights, booties and a warm pull over.

You look gorgeous, Suz! I know going full on edge isn't your thing but this is definitely one of your edgier outfits! I think it's the boots combined with the denim skirt!

Suz, I'm so glad that you have that quilted denim skirt. It is perfect for you. Both versions look fab. It's amazing how a few simple substitutions really change the look and season. Congratulations to your daughter!

From one modern classic girl to another - you look great!

I want to see Sveta spanking you!!! That's worth another YLF meet-up, but I can totally see why you bought the skirt. They feel so cool in summer and you look so good with it in these transitional times. Love it with the navy blue cardigan.

Congratulations to your daughter, Suz, and I'm so glad you caved in and bought the skirt; it looks fabulous. I love that you've styled it to be, as you say, modern, and classic - it's quietly interesting.
Fab to the power of fab!
