WIW: Definitely oldie, but goodie?

I have a meeting this morning. I looked in my treasure trove of vintage things, to make an outfit.

I knit this sweater in the 70s. I think I was about 15 when I started it. It was my second project, and fun to knit. It wasn’t hard at all.

I bought this Coach bag in the early 90s. I used it every day for several years. I know I’ve used it in the last six years because I found someone’s business card in a pocket to date my recent use.

I bought these moccasins a few years ago out of nostalgia. I had some in the 90s and loved them. I haven’t worn these much at all. Lesson learned, I guess.

Love that sweater. It's a classic. Beautifully knitted.

I like the look of the shoes too. Is it because of the colour you don't wear them much? Can't remember to have seen you in any brown items before, but these brown shoes actually look great with the dark blue jeans.

Wasn’t hard to knit!!I think that you are too modest ,there are some serious knitting skills on display here.Both the jumper and the bag are classics and haven’t dated so well done top for hanging onto them.

TRULY vintage and incredible quality. How about a scarf instead of a T-neck, and some BF jeans. Semi-tuck, scrunch the sleeves and add a belt.

Angie, thank you. Those are great ideas. The sweater might be too thick to tuck. I will try the others, though.

Cardiff Girl, thank you. After knitting a little bit, it was easy to see what the next row would be. There were several cable twists every right side row.

MsMaven, the sweater is wool. It’s the genuine unscoured Irish wool, with lanolin. Knitting with it is like putting on hand lotion. It looks new because I never wore it much.

The Cat, You’re right, I don’t wear much brown. I wear brown sandals sometimes in summer. I should wear the shoes more because they were very comfy.

That is a beautiful sweater, I aways wanted one just like it. I had that same Coach bag and also wore it for years. Nice outfit!! It doesn't look dated at all.

More than a goodie, that sweater is beautiful and your second knitting project, you did a fantastic job. The Aran sweater is an advanced project that you tackled like an expert. I cannot even imagine what you knit after that.

LOL! Great purse! I have it’s chocolate brown cousin! SURPRISE! I need to decide whether to keep mine also, so I can’t offer any advice, but keep the sweater. It’s beautiful.

Omg- although I prefer crochet I have knit 2 sweaters in the last couple of years-nothing like that.
It is absolutely gorgeous and you should definitely wear it proudly. Most folks that don’t do yarn have no idea of the time effort love and FUN that goes in to making a sweater like that.
Just don’t tell me you spun the wool first or I will cry.

Joyce, thank you. Since then I’ve learned to knit fair isle, lace, socks, and gloves. The hardest part about knitting is making something fit.

Efbgen, thank you. You’re so funny! I have friends who have sheep and llamas and do spin their own fiber and knit it up. I’m not a very good spinner.

Lisa, thank you. I left the back of my head to show the sweater’s color isn’t really very good for me anymore. I started the sweater when I was 15, but it took a couple years to knit.

I really like sweaters like this and especially with the browns / tans. I like Angie’s ideas on styling. Such a beautiful classic item to knit and I’m wondering if you were think8ng when you knitted it that it would stand the test of time so well.

I love the sweater! My sister and I had matching ones in perhaps the early 70s which we called our Arran jerseys after the isle in Scotland. After Dad died in 2010 he had one which I considered wearing from nostalgia, but it was a bit floppy so I reluctantly gave it away.
I think it goes well with the back of your hair! And I like your Coach bag x

I adore your sweater and even more that you made it and in the 70's no less. I have to say that people are scooping up vintage Coach bags in my area like crazy and I really like yours. I say goodies for sure!

The sweater is gorgeous. Well done. The Vintage Coach makes my heart sing ... especially the color. I was wearing black Coach bags back in the day. I only very recently graduated to color bags.

Jenni, thank you. When my dad died my son got some of his old clothes. He has a jacket from the early 60s that I remember my dad wearing.

Colette, thank you. I never bought old Coach bags until fairly recently. I’ve noticed the price going up on them. The really old ones can be washed and conditioned, and look great again.

Style Fan, thank you. The sweater was time consuming, but not difficult. Cables are kind of slow. I knit a cabled vest a few years ago without a cable needle, and it was a lot faster.
