Other folks are close to wrapping up their 30x30 challenge for January, but as I mentioned at the outset I will be wearing this capsule for longer. I've decided to take it through mid-March and switch to a spring capsule around March 17. I will be away for a week in a warmer climate in late February, and will wear a different set of clothes (sort of a summer preview) while there. So that will give me 10 weeks with my deep winter capsule which seems about right.

Let’s recap last week shall we!

1: navy skirt leggings, gray floral sweatshirt

Chaotic day, was racing to meet a deadline and didn’t get dressed in actual clothes until the afternoon. Never left the house after getting dressed so no shoes. No selfie but you’ve seen me in this combo before — sort of my “grab it in a panic” outfit.

2-3: medium-wash skinnies, black popover, lavender crochet vest, cognac riding boots

The crochet vest was less itchy here than in last week’s outfit, but, although I wore a silk long-john top under the shirt, I just was not warm enough. I may try this piece once more when the weather warms up in spring but more than likely this is on the way out of my wardrobe.

PS: The gold crane thingy that looks like a brooch is actually a vintage barrette!!!

4-5: gray skinnies, white tuxedo button-up, black shawl-collar cardi, patent loafers

I remembered an outfit formula that I really like but had forgotten about: gray skinnies (which often read as very casual to me) + dressy other components. Yay! I was really happy in this outfit, felt deliberate and put together.

PS: The little crown thingy that looks like a brooch IS a brooch! Jumping on the YLF brooch bandwagon instigated by Katerina. Borrowing Mainelady’s maximal trick of brooch + necklace here.

6-7: black ponte leggings, gray/white stripe popover, long burgundy cardi, winter village scarf, gray boots.

I REALLY like this scarf with this sweater but not sure about the striped shirt with it.

8-9: navy skirt leggings, black long sleeve tee, black long cardi, black patent loafers

Emulating Katerina’s double scarf trick here with the blue paisley + blue bird combo. I had a little trouble figuring out how to tie them without the combination feeling overly bulky and fussy, but I persevered and quite liked the result.

In truth, I didn’t wear the scarves when I was working at home — only when I went out. I’m finding that I often want to take off accessories at home unless they are very small/basic like pearl studs and my agate and signet rings (the latter of which have absolutely become my signature for this season, I am sooooo glad I got my great-grandpa’s ring fixed!!!!). I think I’ve decided to accept that rather than fighting it.

That’s it for this week! As always, questions, comments, and constructive critiques are most welcome. Thanks for looking!
