WIW Day 5 of CC challenge - YouLookFab Forum

Hi Ladies,

To finish off the week I had an important work meeting to attend, so wore my favourite suit, which just happens to not be black - so lucky, I could wear my favourite outfit and still meet the challenge.

To sort of make up for cheating, I did not wear black on Saturday either. I have been playing around with the new leopard print coat to see how versatile it is, and I even liked it with my more summery jeans and t-shirt - so the jacket is a keep.

Friday - Apricot tweed suit worn with red bag and orange heels

Saturday - star print shirt, star print boots, jeans and faux Chanel pearl necklace (which broke when I took it off - a shame, because I like this even if it was contraband from Bali - will try and mend it myself if possible).

Sunday - jeans, t-shirt and leopard print coat - plus star boots.

Your favorite suit is very beautiful. Gorgeous classic, feminine and fun. The red accents are great. You know, I love that you use this kind of tweed suit for important meetings. It is so often (at least where I live and in our business) that women go to such meetings in dark suits with more masculine style. Don’t take me wrong, I love such suits as well, but it would be nice to see more feminine, “softer” pieces in that context, and it is what this suit feels like to me.

Your weekend style is as amazing as your professional style. Both the outfits are smashing. I like the way you wear the long necklace with the buttoned shirt, I have been trying to figure out how to do it.. This is perfect. What a great outfit! The ladylike combined with jeans and the cool boots - made me smile. The leopard jacket is a total winner. Fun, glam, and very versatile.

This is great! I too love your suit for those meetings. I think in NZ some women also can wear more feminine suits for such meetings. It may be our shared Anzac culture ( for others, that stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps, an important World War 1 occasion).
However I find the star motifs even more fun! I love tying motifs together in my outfit like that.

Love the suit. You look very Kim Novak in Vertigo. I’ve probably said that before, but who could tire of that comparison Love the Chanel outfit and the faux fur too. You had a great week.

Katerina - yes, I find many 'serious' business women think they have to dress in dark colours to be taken seriously in meetings. However, my experience has been that feminine styling has never taken my strength or professionalism away from me, in fact looking different can be useful as most client remember who I am simply because I am a little different.

JenniNZ - yes I too love matching motifs and I have the perfect winter jumper (in finds) to match these boots - it was just a lucky coincidence. So I am looking forward to wearing these together in the colder weather, so not for a few months.

Brooklyn - you are too kind, Kim Novak's styling in Vertigo is definitely style inspiration for me, so that is high praise indeed. My tweed suit is classic and comparing the photos of the Cue long skirt and this tweed suit made me think I would prefer to wait and see if I can find something that I really love like this suit. I am keeping the fur jacket, but I returned the skirt.

Agree 100% with Katerina. By best ever 'power' suit was a smokey lilac! The more casual weekend outfits are beautifully styled and fun.

I think that was a good decision. It’s not the sort of style that will sell out fast. So, if you change your mind after looking around some more, you can go back for it.

And I have to agree with Runcarla that you make wearing lots of colour look easy!
