Another day, another loafers-and-bare-ankles inspiration image. I will do something different, and more colorful tomorrow -- I promise!

Here's what I noticed about this inspiration image:
-Simple, streamlined silhouette
-Menswear inspired details
-Neutral outfit with statement shoes (even though the shoes are also neutral, the pattern and lighter value compared to the rest of the outfit make them really pop, to my eye)

My version:
-charcoal velvet trouser-style pants. These were sort of an impulse purchase but I am really enjoying the tomboy vibe of the trouser style in contrast to my usual 5-pocket jeans cut.
-two versions with two different sweaters: solid black, and tweedy gray. I thought the tweed might be analogous to the pinstripe of the pants in the original outfit.
-I prefer the version with the black sweater: greater contrast between the pants and the top, and I think the cut of the black sweater better mirrors the vibe of the original outfit better. Your thoughts?
-I don't really have "statement" loafers. The shine of the black patent loafers is arguably statement, but in this context with other dark neutrals I don't think they provide enough of a punch.
-So I turn again to statement socks -- a bright color and some sparkle.
-I'm not really making this up though either -- see last photo, I've pinned a ton of loafers-with-visible-socks looks too.
-Turned up the cuff of the pants for more ankle oomph. This was a good idea although with the velvet rubbing against itself the cuffs tended to "grow" -- so it was a bit fussy.
-Added green beads and gold necklace to echo the socks in the top half of the outfit.

Thanks once again for looking, open to any thoughts or suggestions you care to share!
