WIW: Dark & Cozy - YouLookFab Forum

Our weather is miserable lately - cold and rainy, so felt like dressing in dark and cozy colours and layers today. I'm wearing my Esprit espresso pants, animal print silk tee, merino wool boyfriend cardigan, have added my men's vintage tribal belt and some mixed metals jewelry. i did add a pop of colour with my newly thrifted orange leather handbag.

I had to show you a close up of the cool bracelet I thrifted last week for 50 cents! It's made of pop can tabs and then has a beautiful semi precious stone in the centre. They are made by an artisan for charity. I absolutely love it!

Lovely outfit Shannon. Perfect for a cold day. Did you wear a coat also? The bracelet is so unusual, it's quite striking. Does the belt have a bit of a pattern too? It's a beautiful color. I also like the boyfriend cardigan as an alternative to a jacket. Very stylish.

I find myself gravitating towards similar colors when it's cold out, so I an really appreciate this outfit. I love all of the textures and the subtle pattern mix between the top and the belt. Your accessories here are really quite outstanding and give a lot of interest. The necklace is perfect for the neckline of your top, and I can't get over how unique that bracelet is! Great jewelry! The bracelet and necklace are both fabulous. I like your outfit and think the light colors in the shirt break up the dark pants and jacket. It seems perfect for a cold and wet day.

Deborah - you bet I had a coat overtop. I popped on my green trench so at least the green and the orange handbag looked spring like. The belt does have a bit of a pattern - a sort of tribal looking pattern in two tones of leather - brown and a dark red colour.

Claire - yes, the stone in the bracelet is a tiger's eye. These trousers are my absolute favourite. The fit is fab and the comfort outstanding. This is why I'm so sad that Esprit is gone now

Ginny - the bracelet is stretchy and light as a feather. Each individual pull tab is connected with silver stretchy elastic all wound through the tabs.

Diggin' this "smoldering" look on you, Shannon! The bright bag is like a glowing ember in a dying fire - very cozy indeed. I once had a bag made of pop tabs, but it was too small and kind of OTT for me. I much prefer your bracelet; the contrast between the tabs and the stone is awesome.

I really like this outfit on you Shannon. The orange bag is perfect and your top is super flattering! That belt always makes everything better, too and the necklace and bracelet are perfect finishing touches.

This look screams, "Shannon's got her swagger back!" IDK what it is, but the subtle mixing of multiple dark neutrals with BOTH pieces that scream "ADDITUDE" (flashy leopard, but in a "not trying to hard t"-- orange bag) and the subtler "artisan/indie/oh, I've had this forever" pieces (the jewelry, belt). I'm not doing it justice (I think I need to figure out the formula, because it works well for you) but this is definitely the type of thing that I've come to expect from your WIWs--- in a good way. You always look so confident in your photos (expressions-- and I love your hair) and like you would be as comfortable in your office as you would somewhere much artsy or grittier!

MaryK- I've had this animal print top for years (literally) and it has been a workhorse for me. The neckline is actually what attracted me to it before I even thought about the print.

Una - this tank is short sleeved which I like because if it's hot, I can take my jacket/sweater off in the office and stil feel appropriate. Always on the lookout for more of this type of thing and you're right, they are hard to find.
