WIW: Cropped Trench and Jeans

Wore this to my monthly mom friends' dinner.

New thrifted jacket! This is a cropped trench with waterfall/draped front. I really love it! Super lightweight. Comfortable drapey, fluid cut. 100% brushed cotton, very cool for a summer topper. The color is a bit more greyed taupe than I prefer. I'm considering subtly dyeing it to shift the undertone toward "almond". Will see if that happens in reality ha! For now, it's good as is.

Only outfit disappointment are my sandals. I still haven't gotten my Sofft gladiators fixed, and I haven't ordered a new summer sandal yet either. My only choice was my 4-inch caged wedges, or pink knock-off Croc flip-flops. The flip-flops won.

Love the pop of green with the earrings. Also, went softer with my makeup. Lipstick is Mac Brick-o-la, a gorgeous yet fresh autumn pink/plum. I went with cat-eye eyeliner for a change.

Irina, Sharan, kkards, Angie, I think I am going to keep the jacket original. Dyeing is a lot of work, from what I'm told by a dyeing friend. Also, the color is pretty good as is. I don't want to botch it with a splotchy dye job or have the color go too deep. Close enough is good enough!

Lisa, thank you! Yes, sandals really need to be bought. Hard thing is we are nearly to the end of summer. I'm almost inclined to buy another pair or two of fall shoes and hit summer sandals later. But then again, end-of-summer sales will happen soon too. SO... dilemma time hehe!

I dunno, it seems like you have a knack for footwear. I like these cute, summery shoes, and I feel they just need a casual match. Like the outfit is great, but what if you had no topper, and a fun ball cap? Or kept the topper, but had a fun, simple yellow or blue tee under there? Shoes and jeans together are great.

Fwiw I would worry about the jacket colour either ... As I understand it, as a DA you are neutral-warm and thus can tolerate a little dipping into the very neutral end. I had a colour analysis many years ago with Christine Scaman and she also placed me as a neutral season and encouraged me to play on the edge, to add a little dimension and interest. Just my opinion FWIW!

Robin, thank you so much! I am worried about streaks and splotches. I have a friend who does a lot of dyeing. She has really consistent results but... she does a lot of agitating/mixing while the dye absorbs. And she has a huge pot. I'm just not sure if I'm brave enough yet to over-dye this jacket. :}

I L.O.V.E everything about this outfit and WOW YLF wearing it! Pop of red sandals is particulary a jam but would keep the jacket this color I wouldn't risk to eventually change sizes when dyeing in hot water!!!

Ket, I did! She used to live relatively close and we ended up booking a lake house close to her one summer so I took advantage. I'll look up my notes from her and share! I was a soft summer but on the deeper side and leaning warm ... So some might be relevant for you

UmmLisa, oh thank you! I really hope Mac keeps producing the color. It's the only pink I've ever been able to wear and look good in. (It's called a plum shade by Mac, but it's a warm pink on me.)
