WIW: crazypants - YouLookFab Forum

I bought these pants back in late April and am only now getting around to wearing them because what with wedding and moving madness I kind of forgot I had them. (This member of Team Wear is hanging her head in shame...) Anyway, I had originally planned to chop them shorter, but in the end decided to just roll so I could still wear them in the fall tucked into midcalf and high boots. I wore my Liberty jeans (which also have a white underside) rolled up this way earlier in the year and people seemed to like it, so I figured the white cuffs would be OK here too. (Unrolled and untucked, they are that horrid length in Angie's blog post today so I will not be sporting them that way.)

Today I paired the crazy pants with my voluminous Allsaints black top and my white denim jacket to bookend the white cuffs. I prefer it with the jacket but the reality is that I can't wear the jacket all day, so I hope it looks OK sans jacket too. What do you think?

Last photo is a rejected option, because I didn't where and how the T's hem hit on the pants, but I am showing it to you because I like the color combo. What other colors would you pair with these pants?

Crazy FABULOUS pants! I can't help with other colors 'cause I lean toward matchy-matchy, but I love them with the black and white.

I actually like it best in #4 without the white jacket. It looks longer and sleeker to me. I love those pants - glad you found them!

Great outfit! I love the black top and sandals with those pants. I like the red top too, but I'm not good with non-matchy so I can't help with other color combinations.

Love the pants, not sure how I like it with the white denim because the AS top looks voluminous on bottom and constrained on top by jacket. I would also try white top, or black and white or grey stripes? Do you have a denim vest?

Sara and Ceit, the tee in the last photo is actually a true orange. I think the colors are off in the photo.

Sarah, plum would be cool! Surprisingly I'm not sure I have a summer-weight plum top (even though it's one of my favorite colors) so it might have to wait until fall when I can layer and wear warmer tops.

Jeanne, ooh, stripes would be fun! I could see these with my b/w striped tunic (probably with boots, as the tunic's a bit long for cropped pants.) Unfortunately, no denim vest.

Ooh, Ceit, I could definitely see the Spiegel jacket with this! To Jeanne's point, it would also not constrain the volume of the top as much as the white jacket.

Those *are* ka-razy pants, Diana, but they're awesome on you. Love the stripe on the side. I like them rolled and actually prefer them without the jacket in 4. What about a plain gray top with them?

These pants are gorgeous! So glad you didn't chop them shorter. They look great as they are now (rolled up for summer), and they will look amazing on you come fall/winter, tucked into some fab boots

I really like "crazy pants" paired with voluminous tops.

I love the black drapey top most but that's only because it allows me to focus on the golden flowers in the pants and it creates a lovely shape. Pay no attention to me and my "safe" preferences. I'm still wrapping my brain around print as texture, visual interest etc.

The orange is quite compelling. I am not sure why I don't like the white jacket over the black top -- I think it might be because I feel the jacket competes with the pants b/c it is so high contrast with the black top.

i have to say I love these pants! I have a summer dress I call the "crazy dress" that is a similar pattern & almost a neon tropical modern print...might have to post for fun

I like the orange top, a hot pink or fuchsia (solid) would also be a bold combo

Grey or taupe? Orange? Green? Cobalt? A softer creamy white or ivory in one of your fab open knits?

Wow! I love crazy pants especially when my kids look at me an just say "weird". I think fuchsia, orangey-coral, cobalt and purple like in the coral pic below.

Mani, I am actually knitting a loose-knit ivory linen sweater (with Matrix-esque dropped stitches) that will be perfect with these pants! I am going to run out of yarn though, so I need to get on ordered more.

It's interesting that many of you prefer it without the white jacket. I was working under the assumption that I needed something to bookend the bright white of the cuff. When I wore the outfit below, people (including Angie) seemed to prefer the version with the white jacket. What do you think is the difference? Is it just because the overall effect with the darker pants and long sleeves is darker, so the white is necessary to make the cuff look intentional?
