WIW: Cons with dress(es)

Got up a few minutes early to work on styling my light grey Cons. I expressed some disappointment styling them a la Angie but I think some of them do work. My take away is the length--I think some leg has to show and that is what didn't work with my longer skirts. I'll try posting some of those tomorrow for feedback. Thanks for looking. I think you look fab in all outfits! Dresses can be tricky if one is not used to wear them!

The white cardigan seems to be a bit long, are you happy with in that in that outfit?

Thanks, Minaminu. I was least satisfied with the last dress/combo. The dress is great for a hot summer day as it's cotton and stands away from the body but that being said--it doesn't feel very flattering. I think that one needs sandals and a short denim vest to cinch it in a bit. Your thought confirms mine!

I think you’re right about the need for some leg to show when wearing Cons with longer lengths. I like all of these, especially #1, #3, and #6.

Wow, Kelly you look great as always. #1 and #3 are my faves but I can't articulate why. Maybe it is their shorter length?

I love your dress collection - envy !
All outfits look great to my eye but agree on the white cardigan length
( a bit heavy-long but still works ).
Fav outfits - #2 and 3. I like the sporty dress in #4 - would you add a small necklace/pendant for go out look? It may be not needed if you wear sun glasses and a bag though. Post some more later - inspiring collection!

I personally struggle with this look, so hard to get past the flattery issue for me. That being said, I really like your #1 especially. Maybe it is the length like you said.

Actually, I slightly prefer the Chucks with the longer dresses. You would totally rock a black pair with white soles too, Kelly.

I LOVE my leather hi-tops! And wear them with dresses and skirts a lot at the moment. I wear them with hosiery or knee-highs. These are my newest pair. Not fleece lined.

All you dresses fit well on you. Not sure about the last look though, due to the cardigan. I just can't place what's off. Maybe the length.

Angie, yes. I prefer leather for durability and it’s easier to clean. My shoes get dirty fast. I love the burgundy pair but I don’t think zappos ship here. I’m finding it very hard to get leather sneakers in a style/colour I like. It’s a bit frustrating because sneakers are everywhere here - but not the kind I want.

What size do you need? Have you checked ebay, Amazon, and Converse? I got these and they were "old new stock" and for a song. They are fleece-lined and very Wintery though, so not for Oz.

I think what is bothering you maybe at times is a proportion thing - which is probably more imaginary than real, a factor of the mirror view vs. the photo (or real life) view. I do think they look slightly better on you with dresses that do not have a low V neck. Something about the higher shaft needing a slightly higher neckline for balance.

You are looking very sleek in all of these dresses, but yes, a little decrement in length and some from the width (only from the bottom) can really change their look. I like the choice of your shoe, and you carried all of these shirts in a very graceful manner.

Sorry to post and run. I wanted to get back to this and share some thoughts. DH was out of town for part of the weekend so I had some time to myself to do some closet editing and mix/matching. It was hectic but helpful. This exercise helped me decide that Cons will work as well or better than the white boot I was considering. (Yay!)

Thanks for the affirmation, Kate and Nemosmom, regarding length. I think I prefer it when the top of the high top shows with a smidge of leg. Too much leg isn’t optimal for me.

@Diana: Thank you! I can totally see you in high top Cons! They seem right up your alley.

@slimcat: Thank you! I typically wear the black dress unadorned. It’s my throw on and go--requires no thinking. I have belted it but usually just leave it alone. Great idea to try it with a pendant--pretty soon I can wear it with a scarf!

Thanks, Angie! You and Carla are my converse muses! Mine are leather too. I only have one fabric pair and they are printed so hide dirt. I would never buy canvas Cons in a light color--I have scrubbed more than my share of white Vans because they were DD choice of footwear since middle school. No more!

Well I guess I'm in the minority but I like 5 the best. I'm not sure why...Maybe because the dress has a more casual vibe to match the sneakers.
