WIW: Comfy Casuals to WFH - YouLookFab Forum

So yesterday abc and I decided that we ARE going to be more accountable about what we wear at home.

As for me, I work from home and often find it disheartening because I LOVE dressier clothes. However, this is my real life, and instead of waiting for 'occasions' to dress well and look presentable, I am going to dress comfortable but presentable at home too.

Today is a super busy day at work. I have quite a few deadlines to meet, so I needed to be dressed in 5 minutes or less.

I chose these cotton cropped pants in blue because they have a very comfortable fit and the waistband does not cut into my skin as I sit for hours at my desk. I paired them with a striped tee and T-strap flats that are both very comfortable to wear at home. I chose to not wear any jewelry and simply added kohl and mascara to my eyes.

My special treat to self - I sprayed on my favourite Marc Jacob Daisy Eau So Fresh so I smell great and feel happier. My favourite scents do that for me

I'm comfortable and casually dressed and wouldn't mind popping out later today for grocery shopping in this outfit.

I am adding a few photos, with a close up of the outfit (without my face :P) What do you guys think?

Also, does anyone think I should probably get these pants shortened to make them more deliberately cropped? Are they frumpy the way they are?

The black/gray/white is nice with the purple. I'd maybe add a necklace personally, speaking of third pieces a la Angie's blog, cuz I enjoy being fancy pants. The trousers would be sharper shortened... But I confess to not doing this, because all mine come from Target and I don't think its worth the effort. It's probably wrong headed of me...

I thought these pants were blue! (Cringe) I have to confess that I'm color blind and find it hard to see tones/undertones of colors. I've embarrassed myself many times by wearing something I thought was one color, only to find out later that it was another. Usually it's when someone would say 'Oh, I love this taupe top on you' and I'd mentally kick myself because I styled it thinking it was grey. Or something like that. Story of my life!

I find it rather fussy to wear necklaces at home. They get stuck in my hair, and/or in furniture when I move around like a possessed chicken trying to fit too much activity in to too little time.

I appreciate your honestly about the length of these pants. I'll think seriously about getting them shortened.

How fun to have a work-from-home style accountability challenge! I agree the pants could be shortened-can you get away with rolling them? Just thinking that's a cheaper option, but I know not everyone likes rolled hems.

Oooh----that's a neat idea, Meredith! I'll certainly try rolling them. I don't always like rolled hems coz I like a sharper finish. But Atleast it'll give me an idea of how the pant silhouette looks before I hand them over to the tailor. Thanks.

OK, back to your outfit...hmm unlike Rachy, I do see the trousers as blue (but maybe a hint of purpleyness to them?) I agree that maybe they might look nice a touch shorter or roll them a little. The stripey top looks good and as we're mentioning third pieces...what about a belt instead of a necklace?

Thanks for giving me the idea of a belt. I rolled them and they looked better, so I will give them to the tailor tomorrow. I like the idea of a belt and rarely ever step out of the house without one. In fact, the rare times I do wear these pants outside the house, I add a belt because they are pretty low waist and scandalously prone to slipping too far down on my flat bum! But at home, I don't like to wear belts. They feel restrictive somehow. But I'll try a stretchy belt or a longer tunic style top to fix the proportions of the look next time.

I think this hits all of the notes we talked about. Comfortable, presentable and stylish. I saw the pants more blue as well. I don't mind the length but maybe you could pin them and take a look to see if you prefer them shorter before you take them to the tailor.

You look adorable in this! A perfect outfit for both working at home, as well as leaving the house for grocery shopping, meeting a girlfriend for coffee, etc. I also work at home - and I must have missed the thread about being more accountable about how you dress at home. However, I think I've learned my lesson with that! I've got into the habit of not leaving my bedroom until I'm dressed for the day. It makes a huge difference, not only in how I feel, but also in my productivity level with my work! Also, I love the fact that I can spontaneously grab my handbag and leave without having to change my clothes or style my hair!

I do agree --- getting dressed in the morning definitely makes me feel good and productive all day long. I don't have to worry if I'm decent enough to open the door or walk my dog at any arbid hour anymore.

This looks cute and comfortable! I would leave the top untucked because for me tucking (even semi tucking) and comfort do not go together. But that is just a personal WFH preference! I agree with others that rolling the pants could be worth a try. And I like your GS dog keeping you company in the picture. Another benefit of WFH!

Thanks Brooklyn! Yes, it's what prompted me to start working from home a few years back. She's called Xena and she's a beautiful dog. Love her to bits. I used to have 2 dogs till last year, a Neopolitan Mastiff as well, but sadly we lost her to illness last September. I miss her so very much.
