WiW: Column of colour with a statement topper

This is an outfit formula I used a lot for years but not as much recently. But over the last week I wore it twice.

The light column was worn to a dinner at the beach with friends and family. It is spring so the jacket was needed. The dark one was to work where I was interviewing. A very practical work outfit for me.

The cord jacket I thought would be better in autumn and winter - but in a cool spring it has been useful.

I could swap them around and wear the cord blazer over the light and the bomber over the dark.

The bag is older as is the black top but everything else was added in the last 12 months ( I am yet to create a find for the bomber).

Fab outfits Sal! You could definitely swap the toppers around very successfully making 4 quite different outfits with the same pieces. Nice!

2 great outfiits, YLF Sal in them,and Ilike the concept of the column of colour with a statement topper-and use it often myself, too! you And yes could swap the toppers and get another 2 fab outfits! Then you can always add some thin stripes (black on white for the first and white on black for the second) for another swap! Statement toppers but I also love your current looking bottoms do a lot of the job in your chic and clean outfits, great work!

Wow, just wow! My favorite is the white with bomber, but only by a single hair. You look so fabulous it almost hurts!

Both outfits are great. I like wearing a column of colour with a statement jacket. I feel it elongates my short height. You look tall and elegant in these outfits.

Jenni - these pants have been so useful for work. A really good light wool that just works for 9 months of the year (I wouldn't wear from December to February). A real workhorse item that I picked up about this time last year.

Thanks Lyn! I agree a striped tee would be fun to add in the mix as well. I am enjoying mixing and matching more at the moment.

Sisi - I liked this one too and it was great for an outside meal on a slightly chilly night!

Thanks Brooklyn - the bomber would work well in your closet as well.....but I am not even quite sure who made it - I thought it might have been Scotch and Soda as they do wonderful satin reversible bombers but I am not sure.

Robin - the Mary Janes do add a modern touch, they have been a wonderful addition this year.

Angie - I have worn the bomber also with a black dress and with my brown pants. I suspect it will get good wear in our climate and it was just the refresher I needed for a topper. It was definitely a hole...

Suz - I think of cord as a more wintery fabric - but it does not feel like a warm spring here and I am still wearing knits and even a puffer on occasion so temperature wise the cord is perfect. It's nice to have some texture to play with.

Slimcat - I could experiment with a belt as well!! That's a good idea.

Ket - that is very kind!! I spent a bit more time on the bomber one with hair and makeup - I am a bit lazy at work with these things....

pirouette - I have always liked a column of colour - it is elongating. I used to do it a lot but not quite as much recently. But it's a really good easy way to dress..

Cookie - thank you! Thrifting sometimes brings the perfect piece to me.....some of my most favourite statement items have been second hand.

Jaime - I agree - the Mary Janes look good here. I contemplated white sneakers but decided against them. I still wear white sneakers but it feels classic now rather than modern. I have been having some foot problems and am trialling all my shoes at work to see what works and what does not. I have edited out three pairs of summer shoes in the last couple of months sadly because of these issues.

That's a winning formula, Sal, and it looks great on you in both versions. Glad to see the green jacket is useful for spring as well as fall; I think besides the weight of it, the color makes it very versatile: It's a good color for spring or fall. The bomber is just so cool. I like how it's the star of its outfit.
