WIW: Color block, slouchy, + BF jeans experimentation

Trying out some new stuff today. Color-block slouchy sweater from the Zellers closing out sale paired with BF jeans and cognac shooties. Slouch on slouch, which is new for me. What do you prefer--BF jeans unrolled, or rolled a bit and showing a peek of my polka-dot socks?

Last 2 photos are experimentation later on with a knotted scarf and semi-tuck to show my metallic scale belt (see close-up).

I like the semi tuck look and prefer the jeans rolled down...

I love that belt and scarf! The slouch on slouch works very well to my eye. Although the socks are a fun addition, I think there might be too many focal points if you wear both belt, scarf and socks together.

I like the semi-tuck. Can you roll the jeans so that you just see the top of the boots, and not the socks?

I like the semi tuck and I think plain black socks or socks to match booties would be better. I like them rolled and also unrolled. So nice to see you posting again

I don't mind the socks peeking out, but maybe a more subdued sock. Also, if you're belting the jeans AND rolling them, I'd lose the belt to allow the jeans to ride lower, giving you some more length when they're rolled, if that makes sense. Otherwise, try a smaller roll. They seem just a hair too short. I mean, a HAIR. Like, not a huge deal, but I'm being nit picky.

I wear my BF jeans in a similar fashion.

Not sure if I can roll the jeans to show the boot but no sock--these boots are very low. They're more like shooties. I'll try letting the jeans ride lower and see if that allows it.

i agree! I like with the scarf and belt, and with more neutral socks -- jeans rolled.

See, if I wore neutral socks I don't think I'd want them to show. It would look less deliberate to me. I need flat booties with a taller shaft. I've only been looking for, oh, two years now? Sigh.

Which combination has the highest happiness factor, Ariadne?

Highest happiness factor is a tie between #1 (polka dot socks make me happy!) and #3. #1 makes my more minimal side happy. #3 makes my texture-hungry slightly boho side happy. It's nice to have different options!

Your slouchy sweater is wonderful and I love it paired with the rolled BF jeans best. It looks great untucked and with a semi-tuck - cool belt, too. What a great end-of-season find!

You know, I'm just not sure about these jeans. I feel like they bag out too much around the knee area.

ETA Swapped the BF jeans for my old comfy skinnies and the happiness factor went up about a million percent. I think the BF jeans are going to be jettisoned. They just don't make me feel good. They'll get 2 more tries after they go through the wash to see if I can get them to look anything like the below images. If not, gone.

Interesting. I LOVE these outfits (all of them). (That belt is amazing, and what a great new sweater!!)

But. Have you followed Shannons BF saga? She just never did end up loving her Gap BF enough to hang out with him for long. Maybe it is similar for you?

I like the color of your jeans with the colorblocked top. #2 is my favorite, but all look great and it's fun to be able to have different looks

Hmm, I do vaguely recall Shannon's tumultuous BF jeans affair. I'll have to read back. I think it's one of those things where I can't decide how I feel about the look because my eye's not really trained. Or maybe what I really want are faded and distressed slouchy skinnies or straight legs that I can roll, not BF jeans, so when I wear the BF jeans I don't feel quite right because that's not what I actually want to be wearing?

ETA The belt was a crazy score from the Anthropologie clearance section. Something like $12. Also, if there's a closing-out Zellers near any of you, check it out because the one near me had a bunch of designer shoes (from the Bay, I'm guessing) on clearance. I got a pair of ROSE GOLD Sperry Topsiders for $20.
