WIW today for a normal MOTG / WFH day

New purse bought yesterday (woohoo)
cognac boots bought last year
NYDJ black jeans a few years old
purple, white, black plaid shirt very old, realize it is a more fitted silhouette but it's the only plaid I have at the moment!

Help me diagnose -- I feel funny. Don't know. Not feminine? I think it is the pants and shoe combo.

The jeans are straight leg and cover the top of the shoe. The boots have a low block heel (for me). Is that why?

Thoughts on how to improve? (other than throwing out and starting over, haha)

My ideas are:
-pair the jeans with open shoes to not be so covered up around the ankle and foot
-pair the shoes with the gap straight/skinny jeans, maybe even rolled?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Super fab! The cognac is such a lovely rich color.

Hmm, well, the top is plaid with denim and boots. It might be a bit of a masculine look, even though th plaid is purple.

The pant-shoe combo is what does it for me, abc. I have trouble with straight leg pants in general for this very reason. I vote either pair these shoes with skinnies, or pair these pants with a "prettier" shoe (something pointy, metallic, heeled, etc.).

Well I see your pretty face and long blonde hair as plenty feminine enough to balance the somewhat tomboyishness of the outfit and I love your new bag. But if I try not to project so much, I will go with what Aida said about the shoes.

I love plaid. And cognac. And plaid and cognac. I can see what you mean about the masculine vibe, though. Aida always has good suggestions, so do what she says. You could also try adding a statement necklace, like Dee did a few days ago, to glam up the shirt.

I hear you, girl. I think you look pretty great for a MOTG.... This outfit is practical.

Right now, the look is pretty unstructured. Straight leg dark wash denim, untucked masculine shirt....and booties. I think Aida is absolutely right. Either you need to wear prettier shoes (with pointed toes or open sandals; metallics are great too) or you need to wear skinny jeans for some structure. Light wash jeans may help....rolling your hem should help too.

The bag and shoes are fab and the shirt works with cognac really well. I vote either white or lighter wash jeans. I like Aidas suggestions too.

Firstly, let me say that you had me at cognac and plaid . I love the rich colours here ABC, but I do agree with the diagnoses of skinny fit jeans or a prettier shoe...or white jeans.

You look really pretty!! But I understand what you're saying and I think Aida had excellent suggestions. I also like the thought to cuff the jeans and wear with sandals or a sandal bootie (if you have it) -- or even try with booties -- hard to know whether that would work. It's a question of adding more structure, I think.

Cuff the jeans a bit, add a feminine shoe, and show a bit of waistline with a semi tuck and belt. You look pretty in that plaid, abc. Nice cognac bag too.

I am going to try the jeans with more delicate or feminine shoes.

The shirt actually is cut for a woman and has a zipper in front rather than buttons - no gaping. But I may try it tucked like Angie said - but not w these jeans bc the waist is too high.

I am wearing the shoes again today and got better results. About to post a new wiw. Thanks to all for the feedback !!
