WIW Coated denim and stripes. Not slouchy.

After wearing a slouchy outfit yesterday and feeling quite a bit less than fab, I went in the opposite direction today. Just taking the kids to a local kids' museum--nothing fancy. I really liked this outfit and I wish the cheap pullover wasn't already almost unwearable due to pilling after less than six outings. The color is great for me and not easy to come by. I know now to keep my eyes peeled for that shade of green! Just to prove that price point is no guarantor of quality, though, the black moto boots have survived 2 seasons of hard wear and are a synthetic $35 deal that have shocked me with their versatility and staying power.

Great casual outfit! Too bad about the pilling, but it doesn't show here.
It's so hard when you want to replace something really specific like that- it can be tough to find the same thing.

Thanks, Parsley. I won't even try to replace it--I've learned that's an exercise in frustration! But I'll keep my eye out for that colour in other items.

Maybe if you have some flexibility with the color you can find a replacement top? I love the fit on you, this is a fantastic casual outfit and while I liked your slouchy outfits, I agree this one is just that much more sharp.

The pilling is so frustrating! I just today laundered a Caslon top that hasn't seen a ton of wear, but it's already pilling. I'm not in love with it anymore anyway, and I have other grey layering pieces, so I'm thinking it may go in the donation bag.

My ancient sweater shaver (probably 15 years old and about $10 if that) gave up the ghost a while back and I haven't bought a new one yet. I might give the pilly top a reprieve until I get a new shaver.

Love the look. I have used a pumice like sweater stone with a lot of success. It kinds of makes a black mess of crumbs as it works. The shavers scare me that i would put a hole in my clothing, although I know others use them with ease.

Thanks everyone! This is pretty much my FFBO formula. Stripes, denim, boots, scarf, done. I will take any excuse to buy another striped shirt! I'm really loving coated denim (DH loves it too, which is a bonus).

I have a sweater stone but I find it can be harsh on certain materials. I used it on a badly pilled BR cardi last night and it left the material looking fuzzy and rough (worked fine on my other two finer gauge BR cardis, though). This top is a very delicate open-weave. I think the stone would destroy it.

I've actually been sweater shaver shopping for months. I wanted to order the Brookstone one but it's out of stock. Then I thought I'd shell out for the Japanese Izumi brand, which has amazing reviews on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Formerly.....B000E1FGHW), but it won't ship to Canada. Argh! I need a sweater shaver!
