Cloche hat with a modern twist

So I bought a cloche hat. I think I might be sliiiightly affected by excessive watching of Downton Abbey and Boardwalk Empire... oh well. I love it, but I would like some more ideas on how to wear the hat without looking like my own granny. Any ideas? Thanks!

You are too young, cute and stylish to look grandma! There are some styles that I do think best on the very young or old but I wouldn't even rate this as one of them. It has a slightly funky vintage thing going on but in black especially, I think it's wearable with many looks.

I have a couple of these styles of hats - I like them because they cover my ears without squishing my hair (although I've lately bought a beret and that works nicely for a lot of hairdo's).

Do you mean how to not look like you're wearing a costume? I know what you mean. (-:

I think if you pair it with otherwise modern outerwear you can wear this any time you please!

Here is one of the few photos I have of one of my cloches. This one is from the 40s (my other, grey one is not vintage). This was for our "dress the decade" challenge a while back, so it probably reads a bit costumey.

I'm a granny (although not old enough to be yours) AND I have a black felt cloche. I don't know if that disqualifies me to comment. But FWIW, I think it is really cute, and with those shoes you've got a definite 20's vibe going on. I think the hat is retro in a good way, not grannyish.

You and Jenava look tres chique in your outfits.

I have a camel cloche hat and sometimes I have the urge to wear it with my furry vest,however when the weather is good to wear one is not good to wear the other(and when you move to Canada you get a bit proud of not wearing hats unless is bellow 0 C).

This is to say that I wear my hats with my puffer coats and feel great about it.
