WIW: Classic Black and White - YouLookFab Forum

Hi Guys,

Today I met up with a few friends from out of town for dinner at a fancy restaurant. I was quite inspired with Angie's post yesterday on the importance of a third piece. But it's too warm for a jacket, so I went with a statement necklace instead.

This is a classic black and white look. The dress is one of my favourites and the bag is a recent splurge (it's not very visible in my outfit pictures so I'm attaching another picture I clicked on the day I bought it. Please ignore the Nike sneakers in that image ) I added black and gold peep toe shoes and a black and gold belt. I always wear a belt on solid coloured dresses....somehow that's a must-add finishing touch for me. I don't do that for printed dresses...well, Atleast not always.

While the look was very matchy matchy, I felt very good on it. What do you guys think? Comments, suggestions and ideas welcome.

I like this a lot. We really do have similar style tastes. I've been drooling over a black and white bag by Santana at Macy's lately. It's similar to yours.

When it's too hot for a 3rd piece a statement necklace is a great option. And of course I love the black and gold accessories!

Oh I'm glad you posted these pictures! I've been struggling with accessorizing my black and white (and black and cream) outfits. You added just the right touches. Very pretty!

You look terrific! The necklace and bag are fun and I actually think that sometimes a bag is that 3rd piece if you are not going to hide it in a locker someplace.

Thanks abc! Yes, we are kindred spirits:) Dinner was great, thanks for asking. I absolutely love this bag. I feel like a million bucks when in carrying it! I go into these phases from time to time (especially after a shopping break) when I want to splurge and spoil myself. Usually, I pick quite a few things at such a time, but the last time it happened my husband suggested I buy one 'great' thing instead of a few 'good' pieces to add to my wardrobe. I agreed and I walked into Da Milano to buy cobalt bag, but came out with this beauty because I just had to have it!

Kerlyn, I'm glad you like this look. I do not wear plain white on the top. I feel like white emphasizes my gigantic boobs, so I only ever wear white in a pattern or on the bottom. However, black and cream (or off-white) is one of my favourite combinations and I wear that very often. I usually stick to gold accessories because I love the combination of cream, gold and black.

Thanks Shevia. It was the sleeves that draw me to this dress in the first place. I like lace in small doses, and these sleeves looked just right to my eye.

Ah more recruits! (I'm pushing black and white this season, lol.) This is a great look. I like the necklace; I feel it makes the outfit very grown up, finished.
