WIW: Citron and gold - success or fail?

Does this combination work? Old Pill & Larkin sweater, VC skirt, new OTBT gold booties. Please ignore tired undone head. TIA for any help!

Ok, I LOVE the sweater with the skirt. I am not sure I like the boots with it, but it might just be the photo. It's hard to get metallics to represent accurately.

Hm, I like the citron with the gold, and I like the stripes with the gold. I'm not sure I like the citron with the circus stripes. Allllmost brings it into... well, circus territory. But then I think I always feel that way pairing a bold color with a bold stripe, so it could just be me.

I really like the sweater with the striped skirt. I am not sold on the sweater with the booties. Now, I am not very gifted with colors, so it could just be me.

I just think this skirt begs for crisp black or white in footwear, or some primary color.
Then you can do almost anything with the tops. Next choice is going cognac-type and bookending with warm color up top( when that's in the color palette).The metallic doesn't work so well.

Okay, I switched out the boots for my trusty DV Joust black ankle boots. I am excited about the gold booties but I need to spend some time figuring out how to style them for work. They are a no-brainer with bootcut jeans but you can't see them in their full glory! Thanks ladies - honesty always appreciated.

I love it!
You might try going with a black top, the skirt, and the metallic booties, if you feel like it's a colour issue instead of a proportion one. That way, the focus will be on the booties. A red, burgundy, or cobalt top could also work.

I may be in the minority too, but I think this works - the boot is a neutral, and the stripes are essentially as well, and your pop of colour is the yellow sweater (gorgeous against your skintone, btw).
