WIW Chops and dots - YouLookFab Forum

Last night I took scissors to the sized-up, heavily discounted, white Gap L&Ls I recently bought. I cut them to the same length as my other clamdigger-length BF denim shorts.

They're definitely bagging out as I wear them, so the BF vibe is pretty strong in these -- I think I'm ok with that and hope they're JFE. It's probably not terribly apparent from the front except for the visibly low crotch, but the butt is pretty baggy.

After the discussion on soft button-front shirts, I pulled out this silk JCrew shirt (2-3 yrs old) and paired it with the perforated belt and the blue Splendid sandals. Are you sick of seeing me in blue yet?

And it may be a bit much for a casual outfit, but I couldn't resist using the oversize BCBG clutch today -- just look at how the perforations echo the sandals! Hehe.

So, how did I do with these chops? I hope they're ok -- they are comfortable. For $30 I figured it was worth a gamble!

Sorry for picture quality as I try to find some light around here. Very overcast today and the overhead lights in our bedroom are awful.

Angie, yes. I have noticed, and it's not been an unconscious choice either. I've just been feeling a pull to a bit of simplifying. Not minimalist, but a step back from where experimenting took me over the last few years. I'm feeling good about it, thank you!

The chops (as I now think of them) are really comfy -- now that I've been wearing them for a few hours, they're definitely a little looser and bigger than my blue denim chops from yesterday. Funny because those were jeans I almost donated after I lost weight and they were "too big." It's too bad I didn't keep a few more things from then because now they would be trendily "fluid"!

Oops, meant to add that I love your chopped L&L's on you! It looks like you left yours a little longer than mine and made the fold bigger. Maybe I should have done that too -- oh well!

dig the coordinating perforations. I think you're hitting your summer style stride.

Perfection, Janet!! LOVE this entire outfit. I adore the fit of the shorts. They could not be better, and I think this is the right length for you. These sandals are just wow, and how much fun with all the dots!! I will never sicken of seeing you in blue (if you promise to do the same for me, since my entire summer wardrobe is blue, pretty much...)

Love the "chops". What a great way to deal with unworn jeans, really. Did you finish the bottoms at all? Or just cut and roll?

Elizabeth, I just cut and rolled! These are actually a new purchase -- never worn full-length (ironic, since they are the rare jeans that are actually long enough for me to wear with a heel). These were ordered with the Gap camo shorts and the BR shorts.

Great shorts! I had fun this year creating my summer shorts by doing the same thing to jeans and chinos I was tired of.
