WIW (catching up): reunion weekend

These outfits are from last weekend, when I had my 15th college reunion, but I'm only getting around to posting them now. It was super-duper, unpleasantly hot and humid for most of the weekend, unfortunately. At least I live here so I had access to my whole closet, unlike some of my classmates. Anyway, the weekend involved a lot of walking around in the horrendous heat, meeting up with various friends for meals, and a big cocktail reception for the entire class. Despite the heat, it was a lot of fun and great to see old friends again.

1: worn for breakfast with some friends, a lot of walking around, and afternoon tea (at the boston public library!) with my college roommates. This AT dress is one of my favorites for summer - it looks quite dressy but is actually super comfortable and easy to wear.

2-3: worn for the cocktail soiree. This is my eyelet Allsaints wrap dress - I tried to get a closeup photo in #3 so you could actually see a little bit of the detail. I had been walking all day, and knew there would be plenty of walking around and dancing at the event, so I opted for fairly flat black patent sandals. One thing we all noticed was that 15 years after graduating from college, we all chose much more practical footwear options this time around!

4: worn for a casual brunch at someone's house. It had finally cooled down a little bit on Sunday, hence the long sleeves and pants.
(handknit sweater, Halogen tank, Loft crops, Naot sandals, Halogen bag).

you look great! I especially like the blue dress. I wish I had pictures, but I was doing something similar last weekend (I think I saw your husband at Reunions, btw). The heat and humidity in NJ were killer and compounded with 20 miles of walking over 2 days spent almost entirely outdoors I was pretty pooped afterwards. And generally felt underdressed and unkempt because somehow all the other women there seemed to be perfectly coiffed, painted, and dressed to the nines. You're right about the practical shoes--the one exception to the high level of dressing was the shoes--everyone wore flats, even the current students who were around and were otherwise wearing clubbing gear. I wore slightly heeled sandals the first day and got blisters.

Ooh all three are fabulous! I can't get enough of #4 though -- the light shades, fun print, interesting textures, and shiny shoes all combine so wonderfully. Both dresses are wonderful on you. The first does look especially awesome for an easy pull-on-and-go summer outfit.

Diana, you look stunning in every one of these. I cannot pick a favourite (although of course the blue is calling my name). I feel as if you completely nailed this incredibly difficult dressing challenge. I mean, honestly, is there anything harder than meeting up with former classmates 15 years after the fact on a steaming hot weekend and trying to be comfortable, not overdone but done enough, and authentic? Sheesh. But you did it.

Angie, I know! The blue dress is essentially a sack dress that somehow manages to look fitted. The skirt part is kind of a crinkled material that skims curves nicely. I wish I could find more like it. It's funny because AT dresses almost never fit me, and I tried this one on on a whim because I liked the colors. I think it's from 2 years ago.

C1, your reunions are so much more intense than ours... I think J said he logged like 50,000 steps on his fitbit over the weekend.
