WIW catch up 2 - a sort of uninspired week

These are my work outfits from the week after Memorial Day. I have to admit that I wasn't very excited about any of these outfits other than the second one, and realized that is probably because they were of the simplest one bottom + one top kind, without extra layers and accessories. But then I can not wear little vests all the time, and I have sort of fallen out of love with too many accessories. I tried to use pretty woven tops in interesting colors/shapes, but still... Does anyone else feel like an outfit consisting of top and bottom only, particularly if the bottoms are simple pants, is kind of unfinished?

#1: Teal silk top- Nordstrom Rack, Navy cotton Editor pants- Express, metallic loafers-Born

#2: Black tank-Gap, white cotton moto vest:-Club Monaco, olive silk cargo pants - Banana Republic, olive espadrilles - Bettye Muller Katy

#3: Bird print shirt - H&M, dark straight jeans: Denim of Virtue, metallic loafers-Born

#4: Mint linen shirt - Banana Republic, faded bootcut jeans - Joe's Muse, pewter wedges - Me Too

You sell yourself short, Tanya! Your outfits are totally fabulous - how can they not be

I especially LOVE #3. That's an 11 out of 10. It's just so soft and perfect.

I know what you mean about two pieces not being as exciting as layered looks but you have some nice combinations put together that must be making the days more comfortable for you in warm weather, I like the teal blouse a lot and it is striking enough to stand on it's own.

Do you play with handbags or totes to change things up?

Tanya, I don't think these are uninspired at all. Here's what makes your outfits stand out: you have an innate sense of figure flattery but you aren't afraid to bend the rules. Your clothing is impeccably tailored and fitted, and looks like it was made to your proportions exactly. Your casual outfits have a very crisp, clean, and sophisticated element. You're willing to play with color, but you know what colors make your skin tone sing. All of those aspects are shining here! Outfit #3, which I see Angie mentioned as her favorite, is just about the epitome of capturing all of these elements of what I think of as "prime Tanya style."

Awww, thank you ladies, I feel much better now! I guess sometimes I get so caught up with trying to put something interesting together that I forget that simple can work nicely as well.

Christieanne, the answer is sort of. My bag collection is by far the worst part of my wardrobe, as I can not really afford the ones I like and do not like the ones I can afford. Plus, at work, as soon as I arrive it gets shoved in the drawer (regulations) and stays there all day so it is not really seen much other when walking to and from work. I have a couple of bags for every season that I rotate through, but nothing terribly exciting.

Tanya, your 'uninspired' is my envy!

I think a lot of people used to wearing toppers feel underdressed without that third item. Just like many people who habitually wear tights, even nude sheers, feel naked without them. It's easier for people like me, who neither wear nor see worn very many toppers in summer --- the eye adjusts and it looks sensible for summer rather than sloppy!

These are all beautifully coordinated outfits, and you look beautiful, as always.

The teal and navy are beautiful together in #1. #3 is my favorite of the week. You wear mint green well in #4. Are the jeans olive green?

Tanya, you look great and not boring at all! You have a lovely collection of woven tops.

I have the same uninspired feeling with summer dressing sometimes, when it's just like a dress and some shoes or something. I think it's easy to get too sucked into the layers and pattern mixing and accessorizing because it's fun, that we forget the impact that a good, simple outfit can have. So it might not be as exciting to put together but it's exciting to look at!

Thank you so much ladies! It is just probably the matter of white Diana says, wearing simpler outfits that would like/is used too.

Joy, the jeans are regular faded blue, the photo just came out with a really strange tint, don't know exactly why, maybe because it was dark outside when I took it.

Ditto everything Diana said! Summer is about simple, cool, comfortable, and not trying too hard (cuz it's too hot :). I think you look polished and fab.
