I realized that perhaps my intuitive side is trying to tell me something. Every item I've purchased lately has been inexpensive, casual tees and jeans. My focus has been on glamorous lately, and I love it. I feel it's MEEE!!! But I see posts like this and feel the need for casual clothes. Which I already felt prior to this. Why that is, I'm not sure. I know summer is coming, and with that a healthy obsession for the beach (I live in the mountains go figure), Brigitte Bardot, the 50s/60s chic cool, and generally, I want something easy, casual, but still chic.

I loathe plain tshirts. Instead, I chose casual tees that have at least a couple of these attributes: blousy/drapey fluid fit, dolman sleeve, beautiful color, soft fabric.

Sidenote: when doing something casual, it requires extra attention and effort for my hair and makeup. Perhaps some women can do nothing with their hair and face, throw on very casual togs, and out the door they go looking like an ad from Tiffany's. Not so for me. I feel pretty undone and sloppy, and probably look like it too. Anyone else feel this way??

Okay, moving on to the photos.

Wore the turquoise today, to work. (I work in a pretty casual place.) Dressed it up with the third piece: tied an aztec print scarf around my neck. (It had nearly the same shade of turquoise in it. Huzzah!) Not sure the color works on me. But it's bright and feel summery to me. If it's not a good color on me, just say so.

Striped sweater was a piece I've had my eye on for the last 3-4 months from American Eagle. It went on clearance, and last week they had 50% off clearance. Purchased it for $12.50!

Grey tee is another AE purchase. I love the diagonal dolman sleeves, and also the longer back. I plan to wear it with leggings.

ETA: I did a blowout on my hair, left the ends slightly curly. Also put on some extra eye makeup. Kinda nice to do for a change.

Thoughts? opinions? Ideas? Could we call this Rita Gone on Holiday? Or is it just too casual for me?

I think you should show a bit more ankle like your inspiration picture. I guess a turban is out of the question :-).

Coco, yay! Thank you! I love the turquoise, and also bought the same tee in a lapis blue (two size too large, but it's so comfy, I had to). You're seeing my hair after a good hour of labor, products, and a hair dryer. It's usually a giant ball of curls.

Shevia, merci mon ami! <3 I'll give it all more ankle. And a turban is never out of the question! I'm always up for a turban. Actually, if I hadn't stayed up until 10:30pm last night and spent an hour doing a blow out on my hair, I would be sporting one today. But after all that work, I just couldn't' bring myself to even put on a hat... Which is why I just go natural with my hair so often. More hats. More time. win, win!

Love the dolman sleeve tee - I am all about the dolman sleeves lately. Do you have a link?

I like all of these, but especially the turquoise. The scarf is a great touch for adding some polish to the look. The darker striped sweater and gray tee are also great on you, just more subdued. I think you've achieved a super feminine take on the laid-back, chic vibe reflected in your pins. There is a sexiness to the oversized, yet shape-flattering tee over skinny, roughed-up jeans.

I think you have managed a perfect mix of glamorous and casual. I love your choice of tee. The type of cut is very flattering. I like the turquoise one, especially with the scarf. A perfect mix. Your hair and make-up looks great.

I am in the casual dress camp and like to look like I show some attention to grooming, but not much. I have cut way back on my make up use. I only use eyeliner, mascara, and lip gloss most days. I am in the lazy hair club however. Wash and go. I do absolutely nothing to it except a small dab of product to keep the frizz at bay. That may just be the nature of my hair. I typically polish my nails, but I am currently giving my hands a break from nail polish remover. It caused some cutical damage that needs to heal.

I share your need for styled hair and make-up when wearing casual clothes. I have to do this even if it's just me and the dog at home! It's purely a personal choice, though.

Ah, the turban....:-) , does it come with a phlegmy cackle? My private nightmare...
How about a killer pair of big dangly earrings to accent all that hair care? Latina style around here is killer, and uses exactly the elements you are wearing.

Brigette does casual as Rita does glamour...got it...I love your fun wth fashion and you get me going...This is a great look...Like Olivegreen, I would add some sexy big earrings...Love the tourquoise and scarf in 3...I went through your pinterest references and I think I know what you are seeking...Perhaps a lighter color...maybe try oversized...You can only look wonderful whether we are into the beach or glamourous night on the town...I can't wait to see where this takes you...Oh I really love the post with the casual blazer..That is my look..tee, blazer and jeans...plus boots...You are going to have to wear a bell so Ms Millie Moo will know which glamorous lady is her Moma...Smiles as always and keep up the fun...I love your thinking and your posts...

It's also one of my absolute fave brands.

Thank you for letting me know I achieved it <3 Yes, I see now the other two are more subdued. I think I'm going to have to do a bit more to accessorize those. Found my red espadrille sandals, and I think it adds some pop to the grey top.

Firecracker, yes, I see how the grey and striped tops are more subdued. I'm thinking they will require more accessory colors and details to make 'em pop -- if I so desire that. And I kinda do. Staysfit, I have been in the lazy camp the last 2-3 months. Very little makeup, very little hair typing. Just a bit of product dotted and patted on. It's been nice. But I find the casual clothes need the weight of the makeup so I don't feel like a teenager in my pjs. (At least in my mind. Of course, teen girls are different these days from when I was a teen. They wear more makeup, adult clothes, etc.) I'm really bad about keeping my nails up. They chip, peel and break a lot, and I just don't have the heart to keep them painted. I need to eat more protein and add some gelatin or something to the diet.

Summer, I'm with you! I need makeup done, even if I'm in my gym clothes.

These are great casual t-shirts. As you say - they aren't plain t-shirts. I love the turquoise with the scarf and the dolman sleeves look great.

Sara L, thank you! The turquoise is a new color for me. I usually go more hot spearmint green. But I like the color. And dolman sleeves are forever a favorite of mine.

PS every time I see your profile photo I go just crazy with envy for your caged heels!! They're absolutely stunning.
