For those asking about the show: Cage the Elephant gives a really high energy show, but I was disappointed in their sound - I dunno if they were using Muse's sound guy, or if the tech just wasn't familiar, or what, but they suffered from opener-itis. Very muddled and the highs were completely garbled, which was kind of a bummer - you couldn't make out the lyrics at all. There were a lot of times that the breaks and bridges were the only time you knew what they were playing. The energy of the band was really nice, though - reminiscent of early-era Jagger or Van Halen. There seemed to be a lot of joy to be on the stage, performing, and Schultz displays NONE of the fear of audience that so many performers today seem to have. Not only did he get out and crowd surf, at one point, he literally STOOD on the crowd, trusting it to hold him completely upright.
Muse has a killer effects-heavy set and MUCH better sound, but less overall energy, it felt like. Very well-produced show, which is to be expected, given their tenure in the biz. I was feeling a little under the weather thanks to an unfortunate hot dog experience, so I wasn't as able to enjoy their show, though it was quite good. Their engagement of techno visuals was really engaging, and worked well with the sound.
