WIW but wasn't going to post - YouLookFab Forum

OK, so have you ever had articles of clothing that you purchased even though it wasn't really "you?" This skirt fits that category. Well made, fits great, comfy for work...and it sat on my dresser for a full two weeks or more while I decided if I should keep or return it. I obviously kept it, and have worn it a few times.

So the top half is "me" - shirt with a little sparkle to it, and a brightly colored scarf (crimson red!)

But the bottom half...well, a plaid skirt, but I do like the shorter style of it and I like the yolk on the belted waistband.

I know a lot of you have a poisoned eye for plaid A-line skirts...but I got tons of compliments at work today so I thought I'd post!

Meanwhile, Jasper is waiting patiently for his supper...

I LOVE the skirt on you! It's retro, and can be worn in a modern way too. It's perfect with the boots and tucked top, Karie! A denim or cropped leather jacket would look superb with it. No wonder you received compliments today

The skirt has a super shape and drape and looks really nice on you. You could pair it with lots of different tops, too. Skirts like this are super for wearing with boots, too, as you are doing.

What a wonderful outfit for winter! Something about a-line skirts in winter are just perfection. I think because in case it snows you can wear boots and tromp around easily, unlike in a pencil skirt.

Thank you all! I'm re-thinking the scarf with this, I like Angie's suggestion to wear a denim jacket (I don't have a leather one). And Moira, I have several long sweaters but I don't know if they are fitted enough - I'll have to try them on and see.

Beautiful skirt! And great colours for you. But then I have a 'sugar eye' for A-line skirts and plaid, both.

You look so stylish. A great British country chic look, which I also have a weakness for, I guess.

For other ways to style, have you considered belting over your sweaters if they aren't fitted enough to balance the fullness of the skirt? Reining the waist in slightly might be enough to do that job. Or if the waistband allows, tuck the lot in, sweater and all!
