Today I am business super-formal. I like the scrunched-up sleeves better, but I think the purple bag is definitely better than the yellow bag. What do you all think?

I agree with you that the purple is better. The handles on the yellow bag make it more casual so a bit incongruent. I like the sleeves pushed up. It'd be great to add a bit more sass with a fun shoe. Overall a really nice look.

For some reason I am shoe-challenged with this suit. It's a slate gray and the shoes are patent leather in a matching metallic pewter, which I think is kind of fun, albeit matchy-matchy. Maybe red?

The color of the yellow bag is great for the outfit. Is it canvas or leather? If it's canvas or a another type of fabric I think it might be a bit too casual for your business formal look. Maybe this is a shopping opportunity!

The color of the purple bag looks great too and it appears to be a much more formal bag, both in structure and material. This bag would also be great to elevate a casual look to smart casual.

Yes, the yellow bag is canvas, and I think the fabric and natural-color leather trim makes it too caual for the suit. I'm relatively new to switching out handbags but would love to eventually acquire businessy handbags in every color! (Right now I'm on the hunt for a fabulous bag in teal!)

You're right the purple looks better for a smarter look but the colour of the yellow really 'pops' with the suit. I think it would look great with a similar smart casual outfit x

Agree with most -- like the yellow, just not with the suit -- and the purple's color/shape is great.

I couldn't quite tell what the shoe was, but when I heard "patent metallic pewter" I think I started drooling, ha. [I have pewter pearlescent leather pumps and IMO, you are right -- the metallic-y part makes everything more fun!]

Combined with a peeptoe, I think that's plenty of shoe style for a business formal look. Depending on your office, you may have people clutching their pearls as it is, ha!

Gorgeous - agree with the others about the bag. Think you look great. I am so encouraged - business formal used to be my single 'reliable' outfit pre-YLF and now it's the one I feel is the most boring. Great to see you do it so stylishly.

I love the colour of the yellow bag but it's integrity is too casual for the suit in my opinion.

Love the idea of yellow with this suit, as others have said, not this specific bag. I really like the idea to add a colorful shoe. Red would be great.

strictly my opinion...this is the best outfit i've seen posted from you. love the brooch detail and the purple bag. great lines and color on that bag.

to up the formality, i would choose closed toe shoes or with a smaller toe opening (peep toe, rather than open toe). i would find them a bit distracting at a board meeting where this level of formality is required...and i'll be checking out our toenail color all meeting long!

LOL, BJ! You definitely would have been distracted because my toenails were lovely frosted pale blue to match the stones in my brooch! Good thing I wasn't in any board meetings today, huh?

Honestly, this level of formality isn't really required in my job on a day to day basis, so I feel like I can have some fun with the shoes and the toes. But your point is well taken and I would certainly be more appropriately shod if the occasion so required.

Like the others, purple bag is better for your pretty suit. If you find a teal bag, get teal heels as well. I think that would look great with slate grey. (I'm thinking peacock blue sort of teal.)

Even a rich brown complements grey nicely.
