Thanks all for the advice!
fuzzylogic I think I've found a better option for a long coat, but if I keep this one, a wide belt is definitely an option.
Cocolion I do work in art/design, but funnily enough, not with color. I'll try that with the camera.
Greyscale I agree, I like the possibilities of these, although they do usually work with black too.
Marina I often wear a different color scarf with the first pink coat (the scarf exactly matches the coat buttons, but not the coat fabric), I think I might have over-saturated the color trying to get it to read correctly. On one monitor the pink coat looks bubblegum (which is the color) on another it looks hot pink. Good idea to go with contrast though if there is a chance two almost the same colors might not work. Good advice on belting the jacket -- I normally wouldn't wear it with skirts, I just didn't have another blue coat to test. Thanks for the fine tuning tips -- very helpful!
MuseumGal the shoes are Sugar brand patent not-leather oxford creepers. They are great for rain because of the higher sole and the shoe surface repeals water. Very comfy. Originally from Kohl's but I've also seen them on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/WOMENS.....AND-/22137
Ornella and kellygirl I'm feeling the same way with the coat, thanks for the second eye.
E that makes sense, I guess I was going for intentionally boxy, but then it didn't work for me in the pic, although it kind of did in mirrors and such. Tricky the differences.
caro good to know that the scarf doesn't work for everyone, thanks.
And thanks ceit and gryffin for the color props
