WIW: Bookgroup and work day - YouLookFab Forum

Two outfits from this week.
Book group: I have been in the same book group for 16 years - one of my favorite nights of month! But I cut off my head in this picture because it was the end of the night and I was exhausted. I was definitely dressing for comfort and trying to use the blue-white-black combo I've seen around so much.
Lace top, infinity scarf: JCrew Factory
BF jeans: Gap
Booties: Cole-Hahn
Workday: Working at home but I have a major deadline today, so I am dressed for business. No pajamas allowed. Are the colors too bumble-bee? Do the boots bookend with my hair? I love these boots and cannot find black ones that work as well. (I have flat black Aquitalia knee highs that I could wear, but they really lack style. I need heeled black boots.)

Vivian, both outfits look great on you. Is your book club themed or do you read a variety? The lace top makes that outfit sing for me.
I'm taking notes on how you wear your yellow skirt. i see no bumble bee. Your boots look luxurious and do bookend your hair beautifully.

Love both the looks! The fit of the jeans feels so comfy! The yellow skirt is beautiful and I don't see bumble bee either ...... but if you are worried you could always team it with a blue /navy blue striped tee. Works like a charm! The bookending with the boots is just perfect!

Both are great outfits! I like the scarf and lace top together. The boots look good with the yellow skirt and striped top. Black would look good too but I like the contrast of the brown.

Both outfits are great. I won't try to talk you out of buying new black boots but the brown ones are terrific with the tee and skirt- and with your hair!

Joy: My bookgroup was started by an old-school feminist so we've inherited the theme of women writers, and we've stayed true to that. Otherwise, we've created a few of our own traditions - we read a children's or YA book in December, we read a book by a woman of color in February, we read a mix of fiction/nonfiction and modern/classic. Last night we picked our books for the coming year, so if there are readers on YLF I can do an off-topic posting listing our choices. I think they are great!
JG: Thank you for that permission not to change! The black boot thing has been my nemesis! I like these brown ones just too much, I think. Nothing else compares.

Love both of these. I would wear #1 in a heart beat. So fab. I adore #2. I'm kind of scratching my head trying to figure out how this works when in my mind, I would think the hosiery is too dark for the bright yellow skirt. The boots too--I would not have thought to pair those with the hosiery but the look is just brilliant. I wonder if the boots bookend your hair? I must think some more on this. You are clearly a color genius and I have a lot to learn!

Kellygirl -- that first outfit reminds me of you! (I think that might be my first time seeing someone's picture and remembering their style so vividly! I feel like a real YLFer now.)

I love both of these. The textures of #1 really sing to me -- so clever to put the jeans and lace together. I want to copy this (except I have not lace top, dang).

As for #2, I love the boots and they do bookend your hair. I would prefer lighter (less dark) hose with this due to the lighter top, but if you had a dark jacket or even scarf this would be perfect as is and not at all too bumblebee.

Both are fantastic. Love the scarf and jeans in 1 with the textured sweater. The skirt looks as fabulous as I imagined, and not bumblebee at all.

Both of these outfits are great, Viva, and I don't see bumble bee at all! I too think that the brown boots look good but if you need an enabler for buying more shoes, I'm your girl!

Suz, if I went lighter with hose, what color would you say? My choice of black is really not strategic. I have one pair of charcoal ribbed tights and about 6 pairs of black. I honestly am at a loss for what lighter shade to wear. Ivory? Really? But I can see how lighter tights might work better here. Anyone?

I like both outfits a lot! Glad to see you went for the yellow skirt b/c it looks fantastic! (I guiltily spent way too much time surfing the JCrew outlet after your recent link) I personally love brown with black so I see the black working really well in #2, and also love the London black tight thing so maybe my eye is adjusted. I could totally see a cranberry tight being very low contrast with the brown boot and across the color wheel from the yellow as a potential lighter option.

Lookin' good! I really like #1, you may have dressed for comfort but you look super stylish. The yellow skirt is fab with the striped top and I don't think you resemble Bumblebee at all.
