WIW: blush and white (needs some tweaking, maybe...)

I bought this blush full skirt with a taupe rose print recently because I just fell in love with the pattern and color. I have to admit to having a bit of trouble styling it though. First, I'm not sure what colors to pair it with besides white and possibly black. Taupe or brown would work but I don't own any taupe or brown tops.

Secondly, I seem to have been buying a lot of longer, loose tops lately, which don't pair so well with my full skirts like this one. Today I've paired it with one such top, but I'm thinking it might be a little too much volume and length. I do feel like I look slightly pregnant in the side view. It's actually better without the cami underneath (because it's clearer that the top is a sheer floaty thing that is not actually touching my stomach) but that's too naked for work.

When I got to work this morning, I tried semi-tucking the top. (I also tried tying it but it just looked too bulky.) Is it any better with the semi-tuck? If I had thought to do this at home I'd probably have added a belt.

Oh, and I chose the bronze gladiators to match the print in the skirt but I'm thinking they are too dark for this outfit. Next time I'd probably wear my pearl sandals.

Very pretty skirt. Do you think it would work with gray or an olive top?

The semi-tuck might work with a belt but I don't really like it without, personally. The color combination is lovely, though. I think a simple knit tee that fits closer to the body would work great with the skirt.

Laura, the problem is that I purged most of my shorter, tighter tees because I don't like that fit any more. The ones I have left are mostly too long for the skirt or have a bit of peplum shaping which might be too much volume. I might try my grey petal tee though (thanks Meredith for the idea to try grey) - it is a peplum shape but the shorter petal detail in front may make it work.

Hmm, this top might work (with a different belt, or no belt at all). But I worry it will look too sweet.

Lovely top and beautiful skirt. I was thinking of gray tops (any shade) as a possibility as well. Maybe experiment with any other soft pastel colors you have as well. Any tops that are cropped or have a bottom welt would be worth experimenting with.

With the top you are wearing, is it possible to tie a knot in the back and tuck it in or under itself there? I was just experimenting with that myself, because I didn't want knot volume in the front, but I wanted the length and look of a loose tuck in the front. I think the semi-tuck you show works too but has a more casual feel. Or how does a full tuck look?

What about a crop top (white, boxy) with a slate/dark taupe tank underneath?

Interesting idea, Rabbit. I'm not sure a knot in the back would work because the top is pretty sheer so the knot would show even if I tucked it under. Unless I am interpreting that wrong?
I don't like a full tuck into this skirt because the waistband is a bit too wide and loose, so I prefer to cover at least part of it.

ETA: Ummila, I don't own a white crop top, unfortunately (or a taupe cami for that matter), but that sounds like a good outfit!

I like the 3rd picture quite a bit and I personally don't think it looks like too much volume. I think it looks summery and fresh.

I've done the same thing with tops lately...liking long and loose. I don't have many skirts, but since I like long and loose pants too I know what you mean about wondering what to do. I think I am just getting used to more volume as long as the items are fine and floaty like yours.

Love the skirt, and I think I prefer the top semi-tucked to untucked.

Could burgundy maybe work with the skirt as well? There'd be sort of a tonal thing going with the blush.

Ooh, Aubergine, I wonder if this top might work? It's more berry than burgundy but sort of the same tonal idea. Might be too long though. It's sort of fitted at the waist so it might be OK.

I could see that one working really well!

I forgot to say that it's always a pain for me to figure out what to wear with full skirts too. Especially after I've realized that my old default of a simple, fitted t-shirt tucked in and belted at the waist was maybe a little dated and also not great for my large chest-high waist combo.

I struggle with full skirts for this reason. I can see the top with a more fitted skirt for sure. This looks good but it is very surrender-y on all fronts, KWIM? You've gotten better suggestions than I could give. Maybe a fitted jacket?

Ooh I like the berry shirt. With the tie in the back (I actually don't make a knot, just a tie), I tuck it into the skirt waistband if it will show through the shirt itself. Sometimes works, sometimes nope.

I like it tucked.
Tops are a challenge with the fuller skirts. Shorter, straighter, boxier (but not supersized) would work.
Also perhaps try something over the more floaty top to rein it in and give structure--denim vest, maybe.
I do love those blush colors for summer and can see why you liked the skirt.

I'm no help on the volume front - you've received good advice there. I have a top in similar colors and I wear it with olive. I think white and light blue would also look good.

I love the blouse and the skirt - but perhaps not together - to your point.

I love blush with white best. How about a white hand knit pullover?

I like #1 and #4. I do think #6 is figure flattering, but not as current perhaps.

I LOVE 1. I think the shape is perfect.

I also think 6 works. It is not so fashionable but I think it is a great classic summer breezy look.

Diana, I find this a bit tricky. I think it comes down to what silhouette YOU find attractive. I would need a very structured topper over a skirt like this to kind of reign it in. So a structured vest or jacket is what I am thinking initially.

I don't mind the original outfit with the semi-tuck. Rabbit has good suggestions (I never thought of tying in the back!!! Thanks!). Of your variations I like #1 the best, then 5 & 6. You certainly do rock those fuller skirts!!!

Thanks. It looks like #1 is a winner. Thanks for the suggestion to try the color, Aubergine! It wouldn't have occurred to me.

I also like #6, although like several of you mentioned, it's not so fashion forward. I think I'd prefer it with a jacket to add a little edge.

I also weirdly like #4. It kind of reads EF/lagenlook to me, although again I think it may be a little too sweet for me. I think I'd prefer the top be grey.

Debs, a jacket or structured topper would definitely make this easier and I'm sure I'll do that in the fall. But right now it's just too hot. I swear, even the blouse + cami was too much.

This has been my problem with flared skirts before I sized out of them, but I had pretty much stopped wearing them for the exact same reason. #1 in the new set looks like a good option.

I really like 5 and 6 of the latest set. I actually also liked the untucked blouse in the first set. It seems like a JFE summer outfit that probably looks better in motion. You look cool and pretty and the gladiators add some edge.

Pretty skirt! I like the first top tucked - but you have a lot of options with the other tops.

#1 and #4 of the second set look wonderful! I also don't mind the initial top semi-tucked (with the pearl sandals) but it's probably more of a mish-mash look than you're usually after. I wear my (very few) flared skirts with semi-cropped boxy tops, preferably with a welted hem.
