WIW: Black, green and some faded denim

Hmmm.....I wonder if this looked better in my head...last time I wore this dress, I paired it with my white denim jacket and black sandals. But today I felt like mixing it up a bit and instead paired it with my faded denim jacket and neutral peep-toe booties.

Does this work? How are the colours and proportions? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Shannon, I love this dress on you -- to my eye, the angles of the print are very flattering.

I think you got the length of the jacket right, and overall this is a good look. What is it about the outift that seems disappointing to you?

Maybe a matchy-matchy nude bag would help pull things together?

I think it looks fabulous (as per usual) but I'm wondering - is it the tone of the denim that is throwing you off? The teal tone in the dress is pretty deep and maybe it is not "jiving" with the tone of the faded denim. The white denim jacket would have popped against the colors of the dress... I am just suggesting it because you mentioned you thought it looked better in your head!

In any case, I still think it looks great and it works - especially the proportions. You really know how to dress your body type! I return to work next week after summer holidays and I am keeping note of your outfits as inspiration!

ETA: A few others posted about your handbag and I agree - maybe too structured for the relaxed look of the denim?

I think this totally works, even if your other combination with this dress is your favorite. Your darker denim jacket would look good with this too. I still can't believe how well this faded one fits you, and it was thrifted. Amazing! You look great today!

Thanks ladies - and I think you're right - it's the handbag that's throwing it off. Too dark I think. I was trying to "lighten" up the overall look with the faded jacket and nude shoe but then the dark handbag sticks out like a sore thumb! Thanks for your observations.

No reason to doubt yourself - this outfit is great! I love how the denim sort of bookends the nude shoes. I don't think the bag is too heavy because of the cream. A different bag would *also* look good, if you want to mix it up some more next time.

Personally I like to wear mushy colors with mushy colors, and bold contrasts with bold contrasts. But Angie has spoken, so, uh never mind.
