WIW 11/7: Simple/Basic Black & Brown

Hi fabbers, it's been a while

I'm not much of a trend-follower but am always happy when a color combo I've been wearing for years (like brown + black) becomes "in". This is a pretty simple, mostly solid colored version of brown and black worn today. It went below freezing overnight and was still under 40F when I left the house to get a manicure so all about layering. It was cold in the salon so I left the scarf on. All these items are purchased last year or earlier.

Nice outfit! The persistence of brown as a ‘trend’ and the availability of the colour, has inspired me to add a little chocolate to my closet. Wearing it with black seems natural - after years of wearing dark blue and black together.

Runcarla, I agree that brown and black work really well together. I was never a fan of navy and black but brown and black for sure!

Love that stuff. The purse looks particularly good with all the shiny hardware. The scarf is fun--something so...indulgent about a scarf that has the exact colors of the outfit.

Thanks Carol! Hmm .... interesting that you commented that having a scarf that matches in outfit as "indulgent" ... I bought this scarf around the same time I bought the brown bag, 2 years ago, with the intention of building more outfits around them... AND I already had a lot of black. I guess I do have quite a few scarves that have the "exact" colors as various outfits but they are wardrobe essentials for me given my climate and I've been buying, wearing, and keeping them for decades. . I agree about the shiny hardware - to me this bag is just the right amount

Chris: Yes, maybe the word is more...glamorous. Takes me back to a time of Grace Kelly or Audrey Hepburn matching scarves to outfits in movies about Italy. There would have also been a porter with hat boxes. I love the black and brown scarf because my scarves tend to be yellows, purples, greens...

Agree - denim is in a class of its own! Even then I prefer a mid to light color denim with black.

RobinF - I actually like all colors of denim with black.
