WIW: Big scarf - does it work?

Here's my attempt at a big scarf. I'm not completely sure it works. My kids think it's weird (I cut a chunky sweater that I don't wear off at the arms to make it a big tube, and put it on).

How would this be improved?

Very clever use of a sweater! I like to twist my scarves up a bit more before looping them around my neck so the drape is slightly more defined.

Better? The scarf is doubled now. I like the twist in it, but think it might be a bit tight....

I like it, undoubled, and I think it would look even better when jacket weather comes around. I see this outfit with a cropped leather jacket. For now it is a bold fashion statement on its own, and that's ok too!

Yes, I like it better the way you've looped it in the last picture, Amiable. Perhaps you can pull it a bit looser if you feel it's too constricting? JulieJohn has a great point, this look will be great with jackets too.

Can you add more material to make it longer? I think the double twist works better but you need a bit more material so it looks looser.

I like the first look but with a jacket. I think the top looks a little light with the "scarf".

I agree it's too tight looped twice. If its a natural fibre you could wet it and stretch it out but it's nice the way you first showed it.

I like the first look but I agree that the T shirt is to light in fabric and color. I think with a thicker sweater in a darker, but contrasting color it will be right on the mark.
Clever girl with that idea.

I like it both ways, and agree with others that it needs a jacket to balance the chunkiness of the knit. Clever way to make one of these! Kids think everything is "weird"
