WIW: Big necklace & new BR trench coat

I decided to wear my big aqua necklace today with a navy crew neck sweater from Gap and my new navy and white striped knit blazer from Banana Republic, which I got on sale and is very comfortable. For shoes, I opted for the RL navy patent leather kitten heels, but I "think" I could have also worn the white Zara boots, yet I'm not sure if they would be too stumpifying on short me. The photo in 8 is what I wore to dinner the other night. Usually I wear a blue collared shirt with this paisley J. Crew skirt, but I decided to wear my crew neck sweater instead. I wore my black leather jacket and didn't get a chance to take a photo.

On to the Banana Republic trench coat. So, this was interesting and when I pulled it out of the box, the trench coat was "buttoned" up the way you see it in photo 6. It may have just been for packaging, but in my strange head, I thought it looked really interesting and made the "flaps" have something "to do" rather than flap in the front. Of course, the joke could be on me and it was strictly to keep everything in shipping order. Just wanted you to see what I did and if you have any answers on this, I'd love to know more.

Also, if you have any suggestions on shoes with the jacket or a better top with the skirt, I welcome them. Thanks for looking today and I hope you have great one.

ETA: I really will wear the trench coat the traditional way, with flaps open, but I just had to show you how it came in the mail.

The new striped blazer is fantastic, Vicki! And it looks so fresh here with the bright green jeans, navy top and your big necklace. Perfect outfit. I really love both footwear choices with it: the pointy-toed pumps are refined and ladylike, while your fab white booties add a fun, slightly mod vibe.

The BR trench is also amazing! So glad you decided to get it, I have a hunch it's going to be a very versatile piece for you. Now that I've seen a picture, I think I prefer the flaps "loose", but it is quite a handy solution when you feel they are getting in the way.

What a sweet flirty skirt in picture 8. I adore the jumper with it here (beautiful colour on you!). I also like the sound of the blue collared shirt, and was going to suggest a white button-shirt as an extra option. Buttoned-up all the way for a strict look (nice juxtaposition with the skirt), or with collar open and one of your fab necklaces.

LOVE outfit 1!!! I like it with both footwear choices. It's amazing how much that necklace pops when you are also wearing those green jeans. And the striped jacket looks wonderful on you. How did you find the sizing? Did you order petite?

Your dinner outfit is equally terrific. I don't think I've seen the shoes before, either.

And the trench looks marvellous on you! I think you said you ordered petite, correct? I am trying to restrain myself...

The white trench is sublime on you. It's kind of neat how you can wear it two different ways - with the flaps loose or all buttoned down.

Everything looks so great in the green skinnies outfit, I can't decide which shoe I prefer. And for the coat, that is an interesting way to button it, so why not? That's how new trends start! And your dinner out outfit is very chic, no improvements needed.

I love the trench buttoned that alternative way in 6 and 7 - there is something militaristic about it that looks fun against those fab green jeans. Bravo!

Shannon, I'm glad you like #1. It felt really good wearing it today. As for the shoes they are Fluevog and I was inspired by YLF, of course, when I saw them on kcs.

Nancylee, that is an Aldo bag that gets a lot of notice and it was one of Angie's picks last year. It was the first thing I ever bought at Aldo and I'm glad I did.

The sweater is a cotton-nylon-silk blend and very comfortable. I bought one in navy and fuchsia and in the regular size, it comes in a host of colors (not as many choices in tall and not sure about petite, since I bought a regular).
