WIW being late

Yesterday I overslept and had to dress in a hurry to not be late for my clarinet lesson. And this morning I was so busy browsing YLF that I forgot the time and had again only ten minutes to get ready. What do you wear when you don't have time to plan your outfit? Do you just grab something? Or have you a few outfits that you know work in mind to choose from? For me the "jeans and tee" combo is still the easiest to throw on in a hurry. Very casual, but I don't mind.

been developing angie's ffbo==fast fall back outfits, for just this type of situation.

however, i have been resistant to implementing the several that i have because i have committed to wear a particular item that had not been previously incorporated in an ffbo, or i just didn't like any of the preset options.

eg...TODAY!

bj1111, having fall back outfits really is a good idea - at least in theory! I can understand wanting to wear a certain item and then having to work around that. Sometimes I just know I want to wear that exact piece and have to make it work somehow.

I really like both of these. I only really put time into planning special occasion outfits, otherwise its just a matter of wanting to wear one item and grabbing something that goes with it.

These are both foolproof fast looks - I love a striped top with a patterned scarf. You could have some fun coloured shoes or handbag too. I love spending other people's money

I usually pick something I've worn before & felt really good in, that usually ends up being pants/jeans & a tunic & jacket for me.

Shedev, normally my dressing in the morning consists of several outfit tweaks so to say. I start with something, leave an item off, add another item and so on until I like it. I can't do that when I'm in a hurry. I also never plan ahead for my normal outfits, although I sometimes check the weather forecast in the evening before and then think about what I might want to wear.

Thanks Missvee! I'm working on the fun shoes, I'd like some patterned or colored ones some day but I haven't found the perfect ones yet. I also don't have a brightly colored or patterned handbag, I just find it much easier to have a neutral leather bag that goes with everything. I don't change bags often. I love spending other people's money too, so that's alright.

Caro, that's a good strategy, but it doesn't seem to work for me - somehow I can never remember my favourites in the morning when it counts. Or something I'd need is in the laundry pile, which can easily happen with my small wardrobe.

Two sweet outfits for sure, Astrid. I bet nobody could tell you had to dress in a hurry. In those cases I usually pick an outfit I wore recently that I felt good in, I do make sure it's an ensemble sans hosiery, because something always goes wrong when I try to put on hose when I'm in a rush;-)

Thanks Beth Ann! I actually just started again this summer. I had played for six years before. It's so much fun and the lessons are so different now that I'm an adult student practicing.

They both look great Astrid! I'd never guess you were rushed while getting dressed. I have a short list of outfit ideas jotted down for those mornings when I'm not feeling creative, or refer to my own list of personal favorite formulas when I don't have a lot of time. Both are incredibly helpful to have!

Both great, but I love #2 especially Astrid. I really like the soft colour combo. You wear jeans, tee and scarves with the best of them!

I just grab a combination I have worn before, so that I don't have to think about it at all. Somehow ensembles stay very clear in my head, especially if I have posted them here. It's true though that it can be more complex with a small wardrobe because often some essential component is dirty. I try to make sure I have plenty of basics (e.g. camisoles) so that something Iike that doesn't stop me.
These look good though. One wouldn't think you were rushing out the door.

Great FFBO's, they don't look rushed at all! My FFBO's are dresses. That way I don't have to think about coordinating all the separates, I just throw one on and go. I would have a harder time creating outfits like yours because coordinating the shirt, scarf, cardigan etc. would take a lot of work for me!

Astrid, I like the striped tee with the scarf. My go-to outfit when I'm dressing up in a rush is skinny jeans, a solid tee and a bright scarf, some nice earrings and flats. I usually carry big bags unless I'm going for dinner or a party.

Natalie, just throwing on a dress is a good idea. For me it's not that difficult to coordinate my seperates because most if it goes together.

Those are fine FFBOs, Astrid. So much depends on the weather here, but mine is usually dark straight jeans or black pants, button down shirt, blazer, pewter flats and a scarf.

Thanks Joy! You're right, the weather is important. And I guess some temperatures are easier to dress for in a hurry than others.

Thinking more about this, I'm most often running late getting ready for church because we like to attend a 7:30 am service or dress for a last minute decision to go out to dinner. Then my FB outfit starts with one of three sheath dresses (black, navy, or sand) with a jacket and scarf or pearls. I couldn't function without sheath dresses and various toppers. I wonder what others do when something more dressy than jeans is called for.
