WIW: Beige - soul sucking?

Today I am wearing a VC shift that I've had few quite a few years with a long sleeved T underneath and tights. I bought and kept this dress even though I don't think the beige is a great color for me. I was wearing comfort goggles that day and convinced myself it wasn't that bad. Sometimes a wear a bright pink infinity scarf close to my face but I didn't want to bother today. I started out the day wearing knee high Cole Haan boots but changed at lunch time to these JC oxfords since the day was warming up. Again...the baby hand prints and possibly slobber are starting to get embarrassing. Will clean tonight! Open to any suggestions!

With all of the black next to it, I think it looks just fine. I'm not sure what I would think if the whole dress was beige.

not to worry!! - the optical illusion of baby prints made me see patterned tights!! - now I get it!! - I think it's a great dress - but think you would brighten up with the additional of possibly a colored, white or black blouse at the neckline to break up the camel that seems to flow right into your hair color. but I definitely need that dress!!

Brighter lipstick, a little blush, and you are good to go.

Like Denise, I like tans and stones (as opposed to caramels and beiges) on blondes - but I personally think the palette is best with white and in textures. Tans and stones are like darker shades of white and the combination creates a "white-out" effect.

Alright, I need to do some comparing so I can see the difference between tans, stones, beiges and caramel. Would this picture be what you mean?

that 1st shot with khaki & white would look lovely on your fair self!! - love all the white!

If you are a cooler complected blonde the taupes and stones will look better; if you are a warmer complected blonde the tans and khakis will appear better.

I love the idea of a crisp white blouse under this. I think that would make a world of difference and would be lovely on you. Also love a bright lip too.

How beige is used here I think is really fun and creates lots of interest. I see no soul sucking here just style.

Yes, do please try this with white as Viva suggests. I find this makes pale tan wearable for me too.

Oooohhh love the oxfords! I like outfit 2 more than 1 since the beige bookending works very well.

I think brown boots might also work well with outfit 1. The textured tights are nice

I think it looks good as is, but I also love the idea of wearing a white shirt underneath. And those oxfords are gorgeous!

I don't see "soul sucking" either, and I'm pretty sensitive to that issue. With the oxfords, I might suggest a less opaque pair of tights -- to light the base of the outfit in response to the lighter color and visual weight in the shoes.

At first, I thought you were wearing patterned tights. Buahaha! I remember those days, and my 11 year old DS is still leaving prints everything. The difference? I hand him a towel and some cleaner!

The beige reads like a nude on you and sort of recedes. It almost looks like you're wearing a strapless black dress from a distance. I need to learn more about beiges, camels, stones and tans! Maybe Angie will write a blog post.

This time, the effect of the hand prints on the mirror made me think you had on black suede boots, lol!
