So I meant to wear this outfit out to dinner last week when I had my nails painted fuschia pink on a whim (not that I ever try to match my nails to my outfit, but hey, I thought if I was gonna go full throttle pink, why not go all the way)?
We ended up not doing dinner out last weekend so I decided I'd wear it last night for a dinner date with my BF (with my now teal green/blue nails).
For some reason the shoes look much darker in the photos then they are in reality. They're patent leather in the same shade of reddish purple that appears in the silk blouse (in the beetle pattern's legs and body accents --and yes, in case you didn't notice it right off the bat, the large pattern on the blouse are actually beetles.
I thought about going with a pair of hot pink peep toe pumps I have but in the end I liked the purple shade breaking up the large swaths of shocking pink. The white leather moto brought the outfit back in to the realm of casual (I rarely ever do "full-on" dressy unless it's a formal event of some kind) and helped tone down the high wattage head to toe pink.
I am in love with the blouse because of the fact that it is silk, in colors I adore (especially the orange in it with the pink) and it is beetles. I know, petite people aren't supposed to wear large patterns, but phhhht!! Screw that.
The blouse's length is the only thing that's slightly awkward. It's just long enough to half tuck but not long enough to full tuck (if I move my arms about it will come untucked in the back). So it's probably best worn untucked but I liked it semi tucked with the more trouser style pant.
This outfit is quite a bit outside my norm in terms of head to toe BANG! POW! color ( I love color but only occasionally go full throttle with it). Nevertheless, I love to experiment and I had fun and felt good wearing it!
