The last couple of weeks I’ve worn a lot of color. (Oddly, I just realized that in some ways I consider white more of a color than a neutral for me in that it feels very noticeable). Apparently this week I felt a desire to go back to my more typical palette, though still adding in some white for summery touches.

1/2 - A casual Saturday look for a trip to our lake cabin in central Washington. These shorts are a 5” inseam - I bought them thinking I was duplicating my favorite white shorts but turns out these are a bit longer. I’m very surprised to say I think I prefer a 3.5” or 4” inseam on me for casual wear.

3: Monday office wear. Still not used to flats with dresses. My instinct is always to throw on a pair of heels. Do the flats work here?

4: Tuesday at the office. Missing those VC caged sandals I wrote about earlier but I think the Halogens are fine. And, more importantly, not regretting sending back the more closed foot sandals.

5: Wednesday: a MOTG outfit taking the kid back to school shopping and working from home. He has a pretty fun sense of style and is starting to enjoy shopping, which is good and bad. (He seems to have inherited his mother’s love for shoes!) We have a budget for each clothing item that we will pay, but if he wants something more expensive, he has to cover the balance himself. I hope it instills a sense of wanting to care for his more expensive items. And it makes him seriously consider how badly he wants something. So far it seems to be working. He wanted an $85 hoodie and when I told him he’d have to pay for part of it, he decided he didn’t really want it that badly. You’ve seen a variation of this already. Thanks to Kari for giving this not-inexpensive denim shirt more wearings!

6: Thursday: back to the office. Again, my instinct is to wear heels at work but I think the flats are okay? These white shoes are getting pretty tired and will need to go soon. Trying to decide if I wore them frequently enough to replace them. I don’t really track number of wearings but I have been pretty good about taking outfit photos for most of the summer, so I need to review and decide.

7/8: Friday at the office. I’d hoped to be able to go without the long cardigan topper, but it was too cold in the office to be sleeveless so I was glad I had it on.
