Happy Weekend!

I have developed a love of the Apron as a fashion item and have collected a couple. I have a lovely Tulle one that I have shared here, another fabulous (more utilitarian in design) one by the same local Australian/Japanese designer as the tulle one and now this one!

I wore it today and thought I would share The designer is a lovely lady in the US. She makes what she calls "waistcapes" from fabrics she upcycles and I though it was a wonderfully clever and creative idea and appealed to my love of layering.

I have layered mine over a a simple tulle slip/skirt, which is layered over a lightweight tube skirt. Added a simple black top and boots (because Autumn) and I loved how it all came together.

Really fantastic look! I love the flat, calf-high boots with this--really adds some edge and sort of tempers the potential sweetness of the gingham skirt. The juxtaposition of all of the elements is so eye-catching. I love your pose too--you look serenely ready to take on the world :).

Curious...the tube skirt is under the tulle skirt? Is that to provide an opaque lining for the tulle?

Angie I didn’t make the tulle skirt. I purchased this one from an eBay seller. The whole skirt is tulle and I find that a tricky sewing proposition

I'm a big fan of aprons too! What a pity we can wear them only while cooking! Believe it or not, aprons are quite a thing in my family. I have several exclusive pieces from my great grandmother. And for Christmas I got a silk apron for my mom, it's vintage and looks amazing (another piece for our family collection). My mommy and me love to cook together, especially during the holidays when our home is full of friends and relatives. I am looking for three matching aprons from '70 or at least in this style. I plan to go on a photo shooting in a vintage style together with my mom and my daughter. Any suggestions on where I could find aprons?
