WIW: another linen day

Today's outfit continues the linen theme. Yesterday a stone-colored linen skirt, today the stone-colored linen pants. I thought about wearing this top with the skirt yesterday, in fact.

The outfit (worn to work): linen trousers (NYDJ, Wylie, in sand dollar); navy and ivory shredded-stripe boxy tee (made by me); cream belt; ivory platform sandals (Naot); brass and silver earrings (Marjorie Baer); navy and tan satchel (Dooney & Bourke).

Sorry about the blurry second photo. It's the only one I got with the bag, so I included it.

Well, I think it looks great! I wish I knew how to sew, what a great skill! You obviously know a lot about how to pick things that look good on yourself and how to fit them and style them well. I love how your bag pulls everything together. I also love that the texture of the linen adds to the beauty of the outfit. The belt, and partial tuck is also nice. The Naot shoes, which I cannot see, are probably comfortable. I think comfort adds to ones ability to exude confidence and I can certainly see that shine through in your photographs! Love them!

I meant to ask you earlier about those linen pants...I had considered ordering them at the beginning of summer and never did. Something about putting stretch in linen made me think it would "hot things up". Do you find them as cool and breathable as regular linen? I remember you are in a much cooler climate than I am...do you think they would be thin enough for the heat?

Thank you, Windchime and Staysfit! You are right, the Naots are super comfortable. I considered other shoes, but these won out for a long, warm day on my feet.

Peri and avicennia, I would say that in comfort and coolness they are note quite as cool as 100% linen. They are a medium-weight fabric, in a twill weave. They feel closer to tencel than to linen. They don't feel stretchy, but they also don't bag out as much as 100% linen does. That may be due to the lycra.

Another super flattering outfit. For a change, you could try a dark belt to pick up the dark band on the sleeve of the top.

Super gorgeous and effortlessly chic! You look SO awesome in neutrals! Loved yesterday's skirt too but didn't get around to commenting. I think it was totally worth it (in terms of fabric cost) since you got the color you wanted and the enjoyment out of the process! Sewing, like knitting, is kind of an expensive hobby but we do it because we enjoy it, right! I think you linen skirt was a bargain!

Thank you, LisaP, unfrumped, and krishnidoux! Lisa, I had to have this fabric when I saw it. I made a tank top out of it and had enough left over to make this top, a year or so later.

AngieT, you should give it a go. I like sewing styles that are less fitted, so they go together quickly and easily. And knits are very forgiving to sew.

missvee, great idea! If I had a navy belt. . . hmm, wardrobe hole? I could wear another dark color, though.

Kellygirl, you are so right. We just have to look at it as a pastime. I don't even think of my fabric purchasing as part of my wardrobe spending. They are two separate entities in my mind.

I love your self sewn top. The fabric is fab! And your legs look a mile long in those trousers. I really like the silhouette of boxy tee and and wider trousers. You wear it well and look great.

Amazing! I adore this the linear pattern of the tops fabric is so nice with the drape if the cut. Is the top pattern commercially available? I have a woven rayon top in a similar shape that is starting to pill I love your combinations of store bought and hand crafted beauties! Fantastic
