WIW: Animal in the Office - YouLookFab Forum

Hi Ladies,

It's that time of the year when the seasons are transitioning and I seem to loose the plot in terms of how to dress. Shannon's post yesterday http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....ple-outfit helped me regain some perspective (thank you Shannon) and hence today's outfit was born.

My theme was "simple". I have been neglecting quite a few things in my closet for fear that they wouldn't fit and I have found this limiting and frustrating. (Some things have been tight but others I just assumed not wanting to really find out - do you do this?) I also struggle with combining my love for slightly alternative styling with my love for modern classic. So today I battled no more. I had meetings at work so wore these very neglected straight leg work pants (that are now quite roomy), old animal print blouse and black jacket and shooties.

I felt appropriately and smartly dressed for work and liked how this looked. As I self assess, I realise that my two greatest fashion fears are looking boring and/or looking frumpy...hopefully I have avoided both here;)

Thanks for looking and your suggestions, observations very much appreciated.

I don't think you could ever look frumpy or boring but I totally hear what you are saying - those are my fears too! And I also avoid trying things on if I know I have gained weight because I actually don't want to know if they don't fit.

I think you look great - the animal print both lightens and adds an edge to your outfit which I love.

Hil, nice to know I am not the only one. re not trying on clothes that I suspect might have gotten a bit tight... my motto is 'ignorance is bliss"! Of course I know it's not... but hey:)

Frumpy and Deborah never go together. I love the blouse and the cut of the jacket. I also don't mind that the pants have more room because it gives this tomboy androgynous feel. I think a low-contrast belt would tie it all together.

This outfit is far from boring and frumpy! I think it's a classic outfit, with a twist (thanks to the animal inspiration from Shannon). Love it!!

PS - even without the animal, it'd still be classic and stylish

And yes, I do that! I know exactly what you mean. Just clear the items that taunt you out of the closet into a holding bin for now. Every more you'll open the closet door only to items that will do they job and flatter you today!

I was pleased the other day when I tried on size 14 pair of black pants that have been hiding in the back of my wardrobe for the last decade at least. These are my test pants, well I actually got them on and done up but I could not wear them out of the house, but another few kilo ....
