WIW and new loafers that actually FIT!

I have wanted a cool pair of loafers for years, but every time I’ve found a pair I like, they immediately slide off my narrow heels. Sizing down does not work — it makes them too narrow overall or too short.

I saw these Freda Salvador loafers the last time I was in NYC and have had them on my mind ever since. I have a lovely pair of oxfords from this designer from about 10 years ago that I still enjoy, so I thought they might be a good fit.

My husband and I were back in Manhattan a few days ago, so I stopped back in and finally tried the loafers on, and they fit perfectly! They’re a little stiff at first but already becoming more comfortable today on my first wear.

Like so many things I’m enjoying lately, they are classic but with a twist. I love that subtle “halo” detail that to my eye takes them from traditional to a bit edgy.

Worn with striped lightweight sweater, COH Emerson jeans, and with an added belt, jacket and scarf. Worn today for a meeting with a new doctor I am considering.

I’ve seen these loafers and agree that they are perfect :). Love your whole look today in fact ! What’s the jacket ? I quite like the silhouette …and speaking of silhouettes , how nice it is to see a slim jean showing some ankle

Thanks, Lisa! The jacket is from Belle & Bloom — I found it at Nordstrom Rack a year or two ago. It’s perfect for this time of year.

So many of my jeans now are full-length and wider that I really had to think about what pants to wear with these shoes! My chinos work too. I thought I was all set with denim, but I find myself kinda wanting a pair of straight legs that are not wide and not too slim — something that looks good cuffed or uncuffed and shows shoes a bit more.

I know what you mean about the pant width/length with loafers . I have 2 pair I wear regularly ( just replaced one pair with a less chunky look-ing one ) and like them best with a straight leg jean as you describe .

After seeing Angie in her wide leg jeans and loafers, I’m going to give the look a try. Most of my jeans are slimmer and show ankle, but I want to get more wear out of my one pair of wide legs.

Those are fantastic loafers, and they are just your style, Janet. I like the "halo" and the little nail detail on the sole also. The whole outfit is very cool. I'm often into classic with a twist these days, too.

Those are cool Janet! They remind me of my Skin brand (Australian) “Boss Babe” loafers from 2020 which I have since worn over 120 times!
I love my extra details of the metal circle and the studs, a bit similar to your metal “halo” and nails

Fantastic pieces and fantastic look!
I love how the base outfit is sort of classic/gamine, but then the jacket and accessories amp up the edginess...yet it all looks harmonious!

Stripes are such a fun and classic print to wear year round, but especially during spring. This is an excellent stripe sweater.

Isn't it nice to start showing a little skin around the ankles as the weather warms up?

Such unique, stylish loafers, and boy, you're so right on how tricky they can be to fit. I find most of them can't accommodate a small bunion that I have on one foot or like you, they slip off in the back. Happy you finally found a pair that works great for your feet. Enjoy!

The jacket seems to be popular — I got a couple of comments on it yesterday. It was the perfect spring topper for a day that went from cool and damp to sunny and breezy.

My new doctors office is in a complex with a couple of nice local boutiques. There was some nice looking denim in one — I tried on a couple of pairs of straight legs while it was on my mind, but they were too short for the look I have in mind. And some brands like Mother are made with too much stretch for my liking. Happy to see some mid rises back in the world though!

Jenni, those are really cute! I don’t think I remember seeing you post those before but they’re great. I love a pointed toe flat/loafer.

Thanks, all! I wore them again last night out for casual dinner. They are loosening and becoming more comfortable with wear — I’m seeing potential for a real workhorse here. This time I wore them with my “skater jeans.” I don’t usually think of myself as being trend-forward when it comes to denim, but I’ve had those jeans for a couple of years. I get compliments on them every time I wear them. They’re full length but the open sides at the hem help show the detail on the shoes more than most full-length pants do.

I wore them with very lightweight patterned knee-highs. I may spring for some new cute socks to wear with them. I also need another pair of low-profile no-show socks — I only have one pair that truly does not show under these shoes.
