WIW and new glasses

Some WIW's from this week:

#1 - Last year I wore the Leith track pants a lot, this year they haven't been getting a whole lotta love. I thought I would bring them out to play before it gets too cold to wear them. I paired them with my black Loft tee, a black and brown necklace, and my brown Joan & David leopard print sandals.

#2 - VC tube in black, J.Crew navy/white striped top (my favorite summer top), Sam Edelman Trina sandals (my fav sandal)

#3 - JCP seamed pencil skirt, Loft gauzy black/white tee, SE Trina's

#4 - Old Navy Diva skinny jeans, tunic top (self made), SE Trina's

#5 - J.Crew Matchsticks, several years old but comfy Vera Wang/Khol's top, Mural bomber (cold outside this morning), SE flats

Pics 4, 5, and 6 are the new glasses (sorry the color's bad and my hair's a mess in pic #6), which I liked in the store (fun! funky!) but now *sigh* I'm not so sure - much bigger than the regular glasses I'm used to wearing. They're green tortoise (Ted Baker), and #7 is a stock photo.

Wow! I'm afraid I can't get past the outfit in pic 5 to see much else! What a stunning combination in color, fit and proportion. Glasses look great

Thanks Shannon! It's been a long week at work and I was feeling a little meh about my outfit choices - lots of quick "this doesn't need to be ironed" outfits - I need to get back to my routine of prepping outfits for the week.

I'm having a hard time getting past the outfit in pic 2! Fit, style, and color are marvelous on you. I love the shine your metallic sandals add to the outfit.

Karie, you are hard on yourself, wow. The first weeks of school are killer hard (the bad killer, not the good one.) Lots going on and changes in temperature to deal with, too. Yet you look killer in the good way! I like every one of these and I also like how the graphic white, black, blue and red will have made you stand out to your young students.

These are all great outfits, Karie. I especially like the tunic you made and the outfit in 5 & 6! The bomber is is great with those jeans, and I love the way the colors in the top play with all the elements in the outfit.
I love your new glasses! They are such a gorgeous, light rendition of tortoise. I think you'll be used to the larger size in no time. It is a little hard to adjust to a change in glasses frames, I think. I always find they look quite a bit different with my lenses in them than the way I remember them from the try-ons!

Are you tall? I notice you don't have any scrunch in your Leith pants. I'm always fighting the scrunch in mine (see pic).

#2 is my favorite. I like how the shimmer in the top bookend the shine in the sandals. I have the same sandals too and have been enjoying the fun they add to an outfit.

Green tortoise glasses look great!

Karie, all these look great! You are fortunate that you know how to sew. I love the tunic you made. It's great! I also love your new glasses! I love the green color (my favorite)! They look great and complement your features.

Every one of these outfit is a delight. I've not worn my silk track pants nearly as much as I thought I would probably due to not having casual footwear for them. 1 and 2 are my favorites. Your new glasses look great! I'm taking notes. As one gets older and adds more "focals", glasses have to get bigger to accommodate them.

Thanks everyone! Yes, AJ, I'm tall (5'8") I wish there was some scrunch in my Leith pants, but at least they are still long enough for me to wear heels.

Windchime, Anna, Shannon, AJ, and Janet, #2 and #5 are my favs, and J.Crew is involved in both outfits (I do love J.Crew).

Suz, I am so hard on myself! I need to relax a bit on that.

Firecracker, it's so true - glasses always look better in the store. I think I'm going to try getting them w/o the Transitions lenses next time - in photo #4 they're darker and I'm just standing next to a window! I have prescription sunglasses, so I probably don't need both. I do think the new glasses will take some getting used to, and I ike the nerdy-cool vibe of these. I also think they look much better in person than in photos, but I think that way about all glasses on me.

Staysfit, I like the green color too. It looks like we have the same shape face - long oval - do you have trouble with the width of glasses too? These are a tad wide - all adult eyeglasses are, at the stores they always end up showing me the children's frames, lol. I do have another, smaller and slightly more conservative pair on order. Those frames are two shades of blue (I have blue eyes with green/gold flecks).

On another note, if you like to wear contacts but they make your eyes dry, I just got Ciba Vision Dailies total 1 (Breathable One Day Contact Lenses) and they are fantastic. I am so glad I can comfortably wear contacts again!

Karie, rest assured that you new glasses are stunning. They are NOT too big, and they really open up your face. That said, I have struggled to get used to seeing myself in my frames. Sometimes I love them and sometimes I'd like my outfit so much better without them. I think I need to start wearing contacts again part time; thanks for the info. about your dailies. Could you wear them twice if you only had them in for half a day each time?

Your outfits are stellar, as always, but we have come to expect that, lol! I really love the Vera Wang top with the Mural bomber. Having the sleeves grey really makes this look work with the white jeans. Perfection!

Karie, you and I seem to have many common physical characteristics! My face shape is definitely an elongated oval. I also have a hard time with the width of glasses frames! I have also been directed towards the children's frames !

I think my reading glasses are children's frames. If I try on adult frames, I never really know how the final glasses will look once they are sized down for my face. It's tricky.

Claire, yes, try those dailies. The eye doctor told me if I only wear them for a few hours, I can put them in saline solution and wear them again another day for a few more hours. Use regular saline, not the mixed stuff, as that will break down the contact lens material. These are fantastic - when you put them in, they feel like a little gel pack, and when you wear them you can't feel them at all.

Staysfit, it is tricky buying glasses! They always seem to look bigger once the lenses are in. Maybe it's because that's when I can actually see what I'm wearing, lol!

Wo,w for the new glasses (and the outfits, esp last one:-). Specs are gorgeous(great shape, and colors)! I too have new ones, and they look also a bit big on my face in picties for a matter I cannot put my finger on, but people say it's not at all so IRL!
