WIW: And didn't like...

I rarely put together outfits I don't like. but for some reason this one felt off... Not sure if it was the mix of blues but do know that the looser tunic under the boyfriend length sweater is a problem to my eye... I went out with a friend for her birthday, shopping at her favorite Goodwill, Steinmart (50% off red dot clearance coupon and picked up a few things that will transition to Spring) and dinner... Every time I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror , I cringed...
Feel free to let me know what problems you see and suggestions to fix them...

Hmm. I think it's overall cute and cheerful, but maybe the repetition of the stripes in the top and the ribbing on the sweater was throwing you off? Or maybe the tunic length is one you're just not that accustomed to.

maybe it was the belted waist and then the high boots. for me it created a choppy cut up look to the outfit. maybe try a pair of booties, or don't belt the shirt.

Overall I like the blues with yellows, but I think the dark blue under the chambray and the dark boots chopped up your "column of color." I think if you replaced the dark blue with a chambray-like color or a light neutral color all together and lightened the footwear, it would give a longer look.

I think it is cute and like the colors, but kkards and cuffcat have a good point that the belt and high boots visually chop your column of (blue) color. The outfit might work better sans belt or worn with booties so as not to have you cut in thirds (if you know what I mean). I think it might also work if you substitute one of your motos (do you have a cognac one?) for the longer boyfriend sweater. Ooooh -- Steinmart sale! Looking forward to seeing what you bought.

I think there are two many pieces here calling out for attention that chop you up visually. When wearing boots over jeans I am always careful to create a long line on the rest of my body to create coherence.

I think there's just a little too much going on. Maybe lose the necklace and belt. Or remove the dark blue underlayer and either the necklace or belt. It's not a bad outfit though - just a little busy.

Not sure. I really like almost everything about how you've paired things.

To my eye it's the bright yellow sweater that throws it off
and would want to try light grey, light blue or white one.

Since I generally like yellow & blue together, on second thought
I think it might be the yellow paired with the bright blue turtleneck and maybe trying a different color undershirt, maybe even a yellow.

I like so many elements of the outfit... like how the white hat and repeats the white in the pants . Hmm, maybe repeating the yellow in the hat... not sure.

Tracy, what a cheerful idea for the outfit, but I do find it a bit busy. I think you wanted to wear too many pretty things at the same time. Some suggestions:

- I think you need brighter footwear as I think tall black boots on your colouring seem too heavy with the rest of the outfit.

- The necklace is clashing with the string around the collar, so I'd remove it.

- Pick any two of the top elements (turtleneck, shirt, cardigan) but not all 3 at the same time.

- I like the size of the bag, my eye wouldn't mind it being even bigger, but I'd go for one coloured bag which would match some other item from the rest of the outfit.

Btw, I love that style of the hat on you.

I think this is too maximal for you. I think of you as in between maximal and minimal (midimal?) and this just seems a bit too busy as Ornella said. Maybe lose one item?

Thanks, I do think it was too maximal..I took the belt off later which helped and tried removing the neclace. I think the turtleneck sweater is not my favorite look and was a big part of the problem. I added the necklace to cope and it just didn't work...lesson learned. Thanks to all for your insights
