So, in keeping with my new style direction "a chicer, sleeker, cheaper me", and also inspired by Angie's latest ensemble (combat pants, white top and red accents), here is my outfit yesterday. My shirt looks rumpled because I was wearing the baby carrier to take sweet pea grocery shopping. I could add a red clutch to really follow Angie's formula and increase the fab quotient.
These are actually all recent additions to my wardrobe. I was looking for a gray scarf, but in typical Scarlet fashion I was actually unable to bring myself to buy a solid color and instead got this dotted infinity number, but I think it is perfect for what I wanted. I bought these combat pants (among other things) as a suggestion from Inge. The material is nice and thick and I was really happy with the fit. I could hem the trousers for less slouch, but I thought they look okay like this? The top is an oversized lightweight cotton sweater from the YLF store that is semi-tucked, but also works well as a tunic over leggings/leans. These are the new Petty booties. I could also have worn my python booties with this outfit but am still saving those for indoor use at the moment.
My analysis: this outfit is 2013 due to the volume on volume (oversized top with slouchy trousers), which is also a little outside my comfort zone. This outfit fits my new direction because it is pretty simple, made of easily combinable pieces, but still fits my casual euro chic aesthetic. This outfit is very practical (washable and comfortable). I could pep it up more with accessories when I have the time (a belt, a red clutch, arm candy).
I would love to hear your frank feedback, also if you think this is boring or unflattering.
Also, I realized I like reading where other people get their clothes from, so I'll add here
Oversized sweater - Leith via Nordie (YLF store)
Glamourmom underpinnings, hence the sportsbra look
Combat trousers from WE fashion
Sam Edelman Petty boots (smoky praline suede) (YLF store)
