WIW: Am I losing judgment?

If I ever had any!

Found this plaid Vince Camuto wrap blouse at Nordstrom and thought it looked great. Now I'm wondering if I just look like a linebacker. Worn with Athleta ruched skirt and Ugg booties.

I feel like I'm just not hitting the mark even though I am trying harder and being more deliberative about dressing. Also, sheer sleeves are hard to roll! Gah!

No linebacking here Una, looks just fine. Though I hear you on these tops, I've been having trouble with them too.. and it just occurred to me that the shoulder line might be what's doing it. *sigh* My solution is to wave my arms frantically no matter what I'm doing, so no one ever sees me from dead on

I think it is the placement of your left arm. It give the illusion that you are narrower in the hip than you are which may be why you see "shoulders". I think it looks nice with the skirt but then, I am having a plaid moment.

I love this blouse on on you, but then again, I do love a strong shoulder! I actually like this top with this skirt and booties on you. For myself, I would not think to combine a ruched skirt with a crossover blouse...ack! Too many details! That is my crazy head talk...I balk at what I consider too many details. I would have probably chosen a distressed denim skirt. However...I really do think this outfit is lovely on you!

I don't see linebacker either -- I like it! I hear you on rolling lightweight sleeves though!

I tried on that Athleta skirt just for grins -- awful on my hips! Even sized up. I'll enjoy it on you!

I plan on wearing my soon to arrive white wrap front blouse over jersey skirts myself! Maybe you are just feeling out of your comfort zone trying some new things after coasting for a while in your updated but still tried and true silhouettes? That whole coming full circle into our original styles thing. This is branching out again after landing at the starting point.

In all seriousness, I think because you're not really shortening your torso the linebacking thing is mitigated. I run into the issue MOST when I've got my torso shortened when tucking with high waisted garments (due to having a short waist). As long as I keep the torso length normal or long, the shoulders end up minimized. So all that to say that I think the effect is far more noticeable to you than to anyone else

Well, if you are a linebacker, I would never draft you onto my Fantasy Football team - you're just not big enough or broad enough!
You know, I have trouble with this style of top - I've got two of them and have never figured out how to style them so that I don't look as though I'm wearing giant shoulder pads. However, I don't think you look too broad-shouldered at all - and I like it paired with the skirt and booties. You look great - and don't worry about your judgement - you know we'll keep you in line!

I like it on you! I'm sensitive to shoulders, as you know, being a fellow IT. This doesn't seem bad at all. It seems like one of those items that seems like it makes the shoulders broader, but somehow the eye doesn't really register it. Like dropped shoulders on shirts. They do, but they don't. You look great!

The blouse looks great on you, and I like it with this skirt. The dark on bottom and plaid on top might accentuate your IT shape, but the long V on the blouse counteracts that effect. To me, it's a cool outfit, and I love the red plaid on you. The sheerness of the fabric appeals to me--it gives a light, airy look.
What if you lengthened at the other end, with shoes rather than boots? Maybe that's another option to try.

I love the top but I think it needs a sleeker, less ruched later. Love your strong shoulders!

And thanks to all of you for the input and kindness! Glad this is not an eyesore. I may have to experiment with bottoms for this top more than I expected. I feel like it looks like my shoulders are up around my ears. Maybe just not a good day...

Love love love you in that shirt. IKWYM about feeling that way in plaid, I'm in a stage where I refuse to wear it for that reason. But you look great.

I think it's the shoulder line and wide V of the neck that brings out your IT shape and makes you think "linebacker." When I look at it, I don't see linebacker at all, but I do see a tiny waist - which is a good think in my book!
I love plaid, and I love it when paired with a skirt and booties.

Una - I do see strong shoulders but I don't see it as bad at all! You look lovely! Do you think more fluid bottoms can actually balance the look? Pajama jeans?

Well, I get your shape thing but I think you look great, you know? Fit and polished. So I don't see it as oh my, this person is IT , something must be done! If you wanted to balance more, I guess a skirt with flare, or trousers that didn't taper the legs as much, would do that but it might not make a better outfit. I think the blouse looks really good.

I love a strong shoulder (I loved the 80's - waiting for shoulder pads to come back!) and I think the colour of the blouse is fantastic on you!

Great shirt ann outfit looks good to me-no linebackers here! Thus, I have other issues with these wrap shirts. As they do not have a front seam, the wrap tends to split on my torso. Does anybody have the same issue?
