WIW: All-black 1950s and Gentle Floral Romantic.

Featuring two outfits this week

Black.
Much to say about this one.
My intention has been to move away from black. Without foundation, it actually makes my face a bit ruddy. Buuut… to find what I love in deep
non black colors that fits my body (without sewing it myself) has proven to be challenging. I knew it could be, but far more than I realized. Plus, I tend to buy what catches my heart and eye and fits.

First time wearing my new black blouse out and about. Purchased it this last autumn and posted about it. Haven’t worn it yet. The fabric is very sheer and special. But finally decided it was time.

The slacks are also new. And I LOVE THEM! They’re pleated at the waist, with tapered legs and cuffs at the bottom. Secret elastic at the back waist.The fit feels very flattering and super comfortable. I might buy another pair or two. The fit is worth it for my curvy body. They are fluidly tailored.

I felt very glamorous like Kim Novak or Anita Eckberg in this outfit.

Only downer is I had to wear my Ugg boots with it. Originally I planned to wear my leopard booties. But we were walking to a venue and the streets were still icy. My feet cried for Uggs and I gave in. Next time it’s booties or some such dressier shoe.

Black slacks: Studio line from Torrid.
Lipstick YSL Chili Tounique layered over another red stain.

Gentle Floral.
Also a new blouse. Purchased from reseller. It’s a similar shape to the black blouse, with full bishop sleeves, and loads of small fabric covered buttons. I unbuttoned it quite a bit. (It’s not cut quite as nice as the above black blouse even though they look similar.) My husband commented it would be better without the button placket showing. But my upper body and neck felt constricted if I buttoned it even one more button—so the placket got to show.

I looooove the freshness of the colors and print of this blouse!! It feels like springtime to me. We still have 3-4 months of heavy snow to go here. But I wanted something light and fresh that screams spring to me. This blouse does that.

Old jeggings; I really need to find better this year. They show every lump and bump and I’m tiring of that. Or else, I need to find longer flattering tops I can wear untucked over them.

The lipstick is an old, long discontinued Wet n Wild formula in… <h>teaberry pink. I only just realized it’s teaberry pink. It’s one of the only “pink” lipsticks I’ve ever worn that I love. Might have to get it custom matched.

Those are pretty blouses. The all black outfit definitely fits the Glam bill. Maybe Glam Romantic. Haha I mostly always see glam in your outfits. The floral is romantic.

Looking lovely - the pants look like a great fit and the floral blouse is so pretty! I think you pull off the black well, and it does have that advantage of fading away and letting the wearer be the focal point. I’m all for colour but when you wear a lot sometimes a break is welcome too… at least for me

These look great! I can see why you like the black pants, they are fabulous on you. I have a hard time getting the right fit on pants so when I do I get them in as many colors as I can! This romantic style is so nice on you!

Two gorgeous looks! The palette of the floral blouse is so pretty on you and a great lighter color scheme for warmer months (or colder! It’s just that I know how dark autumns sometimes struggle with colors for warm weather clothing.)

The pants are stunning on you! Put them through their paces a bit and then I vote duplicate. Also vote for getting the lipstick custom matched. When you find just the thing, milk it!

I like the black blouse on you too. You make it work without even looking like you are making it work. Iykwim!

You wear the all-black look so well, and you look fab in the floral blouse too! Agree you should consider duplicating the pants in the first look--well-fitting with a little elastic in the back for comfort is always on the top of my pants list.

Wow, both dynamite looks. Those pants are a fab fit and style on you, Ket. And I get you with black--it's not the best color on me, either, but it can be hard to resist, so why fight it. Anyway, your smashing lip color and earrings make you look vivid in black. I was looking at the photo, thinking how sophisticated the black outfit looks on you, and then I noticed the trash bag--very sophisticated look indeed, to have your kitchen bag matching! (I'm just kidding! Hope you get a laugh, as I did!) Keeping it real, as we say, right?

The floral blouse is gorgeous on you, and with Teaberry lipstick, for the win! Yes, you must find that color, somehow, again!

What Jules and Angie said! I think you carry off the black exceptionally well, and the sheer pattern of the black blouse gives it interest and texture. Pants look fantastic -- definitely get another pair. Do they come in other colours? If not, even another black pair would be smart because the fit is great and you are happy with it. I see exactly what you mean about the tapered shape. So flattering!

The floral blouse is also gorgeous on you. You are killing it!

I often (ok almost always) look at the pictures first and your black outfit shouted Old Hollywood glam to me. Kim Novak has nothing on you! The buttons on the placket do not bother me at all. You look gorgeous!

You look fabulous in the black outfit ! The pants have a wonderful fit and the sheer blouse enlightens the all-black look. I would try a thin belt with a metal shiny buckle, but that's just an idea. The floral blouse looks harmonious with your complexion and lipstick. I understand the need of something that screams Spring in the middle of Winter !
