We had a warm snap, so I wore short sleeve tops every day; that's why the green sweater got so many wears (ordinarily I choose more variety). And yes, it's much too short for the trousers in #2. I changed out of that one pretty fast. Apologies for the lighting in #4 - overcast, winter, indoor light, you know the drill. Thanks for commenting! (Posting ahead in case I don't get a chance to Christmas week.)

I love your browns and that wonderful jacket. I'm a little perplexed as to what you thought was wrong with #2? I think these all look good. I love your slightly boho slightly vintagey vibe.

The diagonal tartan skirt is fabulous. I wish those would re-appear in stores. I like #4 a lot. Allasse, you're also ready to model for Anthropolgie.

Angie, thank you very much! What gives it the Anthropologie vibe? Just curious. I had to hem that skirt as it was originally straight & mid-calf; I like it a lot, too.

I'm thinking a longer jacket for those trousers. They seem to sit low (the trousers).

I love the diagonal plaid too. But I also have a real soft spot for the maxi skirts on you. Gorgeous muted shades as always.

Rachylou, thank you! I've always liked the maxi/mid-calf midi length for that swishy, feminine feeling. Yes, I'm the type who likes having to hold my skirt up to climb stairs - it feels deliciously retro.

A longer jacket might be good, too, since I've generally liked that one's proportions with skirts. Don't have one, but something to think about. The trousers are a little higher than my trouser jeans, actually - the rise is 1 in. more, which always looks awkward to me when tucking. I want it to be lower or something.

Diane G, thank you for the maxi love too. My mother said floor-length skirts made me look taller, and I tend to agree despite Angie's advice to avoid. My version of fun with fashion, I guess.

I love these outfits! Although the jacket is a little short with the trousers, it doesn't look awful by any means. Maybe the fact that the color of the jacket somewhat matches that of the pants helps?

I also thought of Anthropologie when looking at your outfits. I think it's because you have a retro vibe combined with elements that are kind of regal or baroque or something. I love it! I wish I could find a maxi like that. I take it most of your clothing is thrifted?

Thrifted, hmmm... I don't know. I have a good percentage of items from Ebay & Twice clothing (mentioned on the forum a few times - the cardigan/jacket and maxi are from there). However, I'll also buy sale-price Talbots and scout Kohl's/JCPenney/Target occasionally. I don't think most of my wardrobe is thrifted... let me count up. 46%

I'm late to this Alasse (sister's wedding was yesterday! wedding prep & Christmas prep = insanity), but I really love you in a maxi skirt! I've been mulling over trying out a long full skirt myself, after watching Lark Rise for Candleford and how all the women swish around in theirs.

I hate the feeling of a too short top with trousers & skin flashing when I move, so I empathise!

Angie's right! You could step right into and out of the Anthro catalogue. And the tartan skirt is amazing. I had one similar to that a long time ago, and oh, how i loved wearing it with boots.
