Many of you know that I’ve been walking the Camino de Santiago for the past 30+ days — yesterday I finished! Thirty-four days of walking between 12-20 miles a day, from St Jean Pied de Port, France to Santiago de Compostela, Spain, for a total of nearly 800km/500 miles. It’s been a truly amazing, humbling, and satisfying experience, and I am now relaxing in Santiago.
I’ll share more pics in Off Topic, but for now I thought I’d share my first “real clothes” outfit in over a month! Last night after arriving in Santiago and settling in at my hotel, I was invited to have drinks and dinner with some other Camino friends. I decided to wear some of the clothes I brought with me to wear in Portugal, where I will visit with my husband after he arrives tomorrow night. It felt weird but good to break out denim, streamlined boots, and a leather jacket!
The jacket is a few years old from Peruvian Connection — it’s a very dark, slightly distressed brown. The jeans are brand new Rag & Bone — they were snug in the waist when I left home, but are now roomy! I can tell I’ve lost weight — it will be interesting to get back home and see how my clothes fit. Also worn: Aquatalia boots and an inexpensive scarf I picked up in Madrid, plus my trusty cashmere beanie, and my Athleta waist pack worn crossbody.
Pics of me in my walking gear along the way, too. They go in reverse chronological order, so the third photo is my arrival in Santiago yesterday, pic 4 is yesterday morning before starting my final day of walking. The last photo is me arriving in St Jean, and the second to last photo is the first morning about to depart St Jean to cross the Pyrenees. As you can see, rain gear was essential!
