W.I.W. after not bothering for days!

First day of getting dressed properly after having a Winter cold.
One of my biggest lessons learned on this forum so far is new ways to wear existing pieces. I have very few dresses- partly because I don't wear them much- so today I decided to try layering my only black dress so I could style it more casually.
Pic 1. Teamed with grey boots and Jacqui.E trench.
Pic 2. With new Zensu animal print wedge. (D.D. felt these were 'leg shortening'-not her words!) W.D.Y.T?

Lyn, you look great in your black, gray, and animal print! Great idea to layer over your dress.
I like both the boots and the shoes. I don't find your wedges to be leg-shortening at all.

I agree with Parsley. Great layering. The wedges aren't leg shortening however I prefer the boots. Tha scarf is great.

Ta Parsley and Kiwichik. I wore the boots due to the wet weather, and they kept me really cosy and warm.

You look lovely! Those boots are gorgeous and I love your layerimg here. The new wedge shoes are lovely (I have acute pair of Zensu flats) and are not leg shortening at all. I would only suggest that a skin toned hose might work nicely with this outfit and the flats. So glad you are feeling better.

Lovely elements, styled well! You look very easy and elegant. I love both the boots and the shoes, Lyn. Have you ever tried belting the sweater? That would define the waist and slightly shorten the sweater, which might make the legs "read" as longer. I don't think this is necessary -- there's something very "Eileen Fischer" about the way you've styled her, and I love it -- just another option!

Oh, I like! Way to make grey look wonderful!

I like the suggestion of using skin-coloured nylons when wearing the shoes. It would lighten the whole outfit a bit.

First of all, the winter thing threw me for a loop until it dawned on me to check your location...

I love the monochromatic look - you did a fantastic job of playing with texture. I think that "leg-shortening problem" isn't those fantastic shoes but the length of the dress. The boots work better in this case.

I love the grey tights and will be looking for a pair this fall.

Wow. This is fantastic. The best of yours, ever. You look head-to-toe chic and I adore the neutral, tonal theme here. I love tonal!!!

ETA -- both footwear choices work equally well IMO. Wedges are NOT stumpifying.

I love all the shades of gray! I have a black dress (sheath) that I intend to layer in much this same way when the weather turns cold. Those wedges are really cute!
